The Zahedan Bloody Friday Incident is Unforgettable

As the anniversary of the Zahedan Bloody Friday approaches, Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol-Hamid, on 25 September 2026 during the Friday prayer in Zahedan, described the incident as “highly shocking and heart-rending”, and stated that the Zahedan Bloody Friday “cannot be forgotten.” He also prayed for the martyrs and the injured of the incident.

According to a report by SunniOnline, citing the website of the office of the Sunni Friday prayer Imam of Zahedan, Mawlana Abdol-Hamid said: The Bloody Friday incident that occurred on 30 September 2022 was an extremely heart-rending event that shook the entire world. In this incident, many worshippers lost their lives without any guilt, a large number were injured and became disabled, and many became paralysed and blind. On 4 November, a similar incident of lesser intensity also took place in Khash.
He further said: The Zahedan Bloody Friday incident cannot be forgotten. Let us all pray that Almighty Allah grants high ranks to the martyrs of these incidents and grants recovery to the injured and the disabled and helps them.

War is harmful to the countries of the region and beneficial to the ill-wishers; officials should engage in dialogue with the conflicting parties and with their own people
In another part of his speech during the Friday prayer in Zahedan, Mawlana Abdol-Hamid described war as harmful to all countries, and said: War is harmful to all the countries of the region and beneficial to the ill-wishers of the Middle East. Many want the countries of the Middle East, especially the Islamic and neighboring countries, to become embroiled with one another while they themselves sit comfortably.
He urged all parties to engage in dialogue and said: The best way is that negotiations and dialogue be held with all parties who are ready for dialogue. The officials of our country should also hold dialogue with all the conflicting parties as well as with their own people so that the problems and difficulties that the people of Iran are grappling with can be resolved.

The security of the province must be maintained; demands should be raised and pursued through peaceful means
Mawlana Abdol-Hamid, in his speech, emphasized “maintaining the security of the province”, and said: Recently, some incidents have occurred in Sistan and Baluchestan province that pose the risk of the province falling into insecurity. I urge everyone, both inside and outside the province, to maintain the security of the province.

He added: A large population lives in the province; many Iranians have interests and businesses in this province and travel to and from it; universities, religious seminaries and educational institutions are active in the province, and people have their livelihoods. Therefore, the security of the province must be maintained so that people’s lives and businesses are not disrupted and they can live in security.
The Friday prayer leader of Zahedan emphasized raising “demands for rights through peaceful means”, and said: Demands and aspirations should be pursued through peaceful means, and this method should continue for as long as it yields results.

In the final part of his speech during the Friday prayer in Zahedan, Mawlana Abdol-Hamid referred to the death of Dr Habibullah Salarzehi, head of the Science and Technology Park of Sistan and Baluchestan, and said: The tragic death of Dr Salarzehi (may Allah have mercy on him) has caused great distress among the people. The late Dr Salarzehi was a people-oriented and humble human being. He was a scholarly personality, devoted to study and research, and his numerous academic articles have been published in domestic and international journals.
He added: Dr Salarzehi (may Allah have mercy on him) did not chase after posts and positions, yet he did not shy away from serving the people and society, and he performed the responsibilities entrusted to him in the best possible manner. The death of such useful and well-wishing individuals is a great loss for society.
The eminent religious scholar, referring to the doubts surrounding Dr Salarzehi’s death, urged on the need for an “impartial investigation and inquiry”, and said: There are doubts regarding the incident of Dr Salarzehi’s death. It is hoped that the investigations currently being conducted by the relevant officials will be impartial and God-pleasing so that the aspects of this incident are clarified and the people’s doubts are answered.
