Ulama of Sistan-Baluchistan Emphasize on Independence of Sunni Seminaries

Rectors and presidents of Sunni seminaries of Sistan-Baluchistan, after a meeting with each other, has met recently with the representative of the Supreme Leader in Sunni affairs in Sistan-Baluchistan to discuss the terms of the state-run Planning Council for Sunni Seminaries.
In this regard, SunniOnline talked with Shaikh Abdol-Hamid, Chairman of the Coordinating Council of Sunni Seminaries in Iranian Baluchistan.

Referring to the independence of Sunni seminaries and religious places, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid, the most influential Sunni leader of Iran considered this principle as one of the most important concerns of Sunnis in Iran.

“In a friendly meeting of Sunni scholars with the representative of the Supreme Leader, while Sunni scholars raised their concerns on this issue, they emphasized on adherence to the 12th article of the constitution that has given freedom to religions”, president of Darululoom Zahedan said.

He continued: “Ulama stressed that the government shouldn’t interfere in Sunni religious affairs; Sunni religious freedom must be maintained under all circumstances.”

The prominent Sunni scholar of Sistan-Baluchistan said: “The heads of seminaries emphasized that Sunni scholars avoid extremes and that the Sunni seminaries and mosques not only have not damaged the country, but they have always been on the path of moderation and unity maintaining security in the country”.

Chairman of the Coordinating Council of Sunni Seminaries in Sistan-Baluchistan told “SunniOnline” more: “In this meeting, it was clarified that Sunni clerics didn’t have a problem in supervising Sunni seminaries; supervision is the right of the government to ensure that no activity is carried out against the government in seminaries”.

President of Darululoom Zahedan pointed out: “The heads of seminaries emphasized that they reject the terms of the Management and Planning Council Organization that restricts Sunni religious affairs and their independence, but we accept only the supervision that was previously agreed upon by the office of the representative of the Supreme leader”.
He said that the representative of the Supreme Leader in this meeting said that they also respect the independence of the Sunni seminaries and assured that the Sunni religious affairs will not be interfered with.
“Heads of Seminaries urged that Sunni Seminaries and religious schools should have their own independence and legal freedom”, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid said.
At the end, president of Darululoom Zahedan stated that “the two sides were satisfied with each other’s talks; The representative of the Supreme Leader assured us that he will not allow any interference in Sunni religious affairs that harms the independence of mosques and Seminaries.
