Air strikes killed four civilians earlier on Friday in the last opposition-held town in Syria’s Eastern Ghouta, a monitor said, the first bombardment there since talks sputtered over a rebel withdrawal.
“Twelve air strikes hit multiple areas in Douma,” said Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a war monitor based in Britain.
“Four civilians were killed and around 25 wounded,” he told AFP.
Syria’s state news agency SANA said Syrian air strikes hit the town in response to rebel shelling onto the capital from Douma.
