Ulema, religious parties form front against sectarian divide

Seven religious parties in Balochistan have constituted a united religious front “Ethad- e-Milat Islamia” to end the sectarian hatred and religious intolerance in the province.
Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam (JUI-F)’s senior leader Maulana Mohammed Khan Sherani has been nominated head of the MMA style newly religious front during a news conference on Sunday which will strive to end religious hatred in the province where sectarian violence has so far killed hundreds of people. An important meeting of senior religious clerics of the province was held at Jamia-e-Salfia and attended by leaders of Jamaat-i-Islami and other organizations.
The announcement was made during a crowded news conference. Maulana Ali Ahmed Mohammed Abbu Tarab was nominated as General Secretary and Maulana Abdul Haq Hashmi as Senior Vice President.
The gathering was addressed by newly appointed religious clerics and Senator Hafiz Hamdullah of the JUI.
“There is an international conspiracy in Pakistan to fuel religious hatred and create differences among the clerics,” Maulana Mohammed Khan Sherani said. “It is sad that our mosques and places of worship are not spared by terrorists. We need to join hands to send a clear message that our religion teaches tolerance and respect for other sect of people,” he said in plain words.
Maulana Sherani said there was a dire need of unity among the religious clerics and other religious parties. “We need to start a struggle on a single platform so that the message shall be loud and clear to the conspirators.”
Sherani admitted that the religious clerics have not been successful to strengthen or make the Muthaida Majlis Amal (MMA) very effective. “We, however, will put our all energy on making this new religious front functional and effective,” he said.
Sherani went on to say that it will be destructive for our future generation, if the religious scholars and Ulema do not play their due role in ending religious hatred and sectarianism.
“We realized that there is a need in Balochistan to bring all the clerics on single platform. We will hold another meeting of this new religious front on August 25th,” Sherani said.
He said those who blame Islam as religion for recent wave of terrorism, they should also read the history that messenger and his companions made sacrifices for peace.
All the religious clerics spoke and vowed to work together to end religious haters across the country.
