The eminent Iranian Sunni scholar pointed out to the vital role of women in reformation and upbringing of the society in history and called on their education and edification in his sermon of Jan. 15, 2016.
Talking to tens of thousands worshipers in Zahedan, Iran, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid began his speech by the 35th verse of the Noble Qur’an and said, “We must not be unmindful over the role of women in instruction of the society and their influence in the upbringing of generations. During the history of Islam and even in the past religions women have played an important role in this regard.”
“Women’s services in the society and the emotional relations between women and their children cannot be denied. History is a witness that whenever women were pious and guided, the whole society was reformed. The lap of mother is the first school of human beings. If we witness some positive points in our society, it is due to the good upbringing of mothers. Even the role of mothers is more important than fathers’ role in this regard,” he added more.
The rector of Darululoom Zahedan expressed some examples of women who played key role in reformation of others and said, “Sayyidah Maryam gave birth to Eisa, peace be upon them, who brightened the world. Sayyidah Khadijah, may Allah be pleased with her, was accompanying and supporting the beloved prophet, peace be upon him, in his prophetic duty. She also trained and upbrought his children well. All wives and daughters of the Last Messenger, peace be upon him, especially Sayyidah Fatimah had huge influences on the Ummah. Hassan and Hussein were upbroughted by Sayyidah Fatimah, may Allah be pleased with all of them.”
“The Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Ayesha, may Allah be pleased with her, was a great scholar as Imam Zohri said: the knowledge of all women in Madinah was lesser than the knowledge of Ayesha, may Allah be pleased with her. Even many of the Companions used to ask their questions from her, may Allah be pleased with all of them,” Shaikh Abdol-Hamid added more.
Urging on education of women, he said, “All Muslims, men and women, should pay attention to knowledge. The value of mankind depends on their knowledge, religion and piety. So we must not be unmindful over the education of women. There must be delicacy in upbringing, edification and education of women. The way for women’s Islamic and modern education should be paved.”
Consult with daughters for their marriage
In another part of his Friday sermon, Khateeb of Sunnis alluded to the case of women’s marriage and said, “I’d like to advise you to consult with your daughters about their marriage; it is the order of Islam. Marrying daughters against their well and just by force is one of the traditions of the ignorant era; it carries dangerous consequences. Marrying a pious, modest and veiled daughter to impious, drug addict and insane men is equal to killing her. One of the reasons behind the rise in the rate of divorce is forcing women about their life of future.”
Shaikh Isma’eelzahi expressed his regret on reports about the increase of suicides in the society, saying, “Unfortunately there has be a rise in the acts of suicide. Some people kill themselves when they fail to achieve money or get their wishes as they want; they consider such things the aims of life and then commit suicide. All should know the purpose of their creation.”
“When people know their aim of life, all problems will be resolved and they will remain in peace. Many people think they have been created for gathering money and reaching to any post; while Allah has created us for His worship,” he concluded his points.
A ceasefire must be implemented in Syria quickly
Expressing his deep concerns on the critical situation in Syria, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid said in the last part of his Friday sermon, “We receive very shocking news from Syria. The media sources have disclosed recently some tragedies in Syria as people lose their lives due to siege of their cities and towns. It hurts the feelings of all awake, religious and tolerant people.”
The member of the MWL’s supreme council questioned, “Why the Syrian issue should reach to this regrettable point? Why the states dispute and super powers have contention for their own interests not the interests of the Syrian nation? This nation is pitiable and we all should pray for the salvation of Syrians.”
“Syria was a developed country and the Syrian nation is one of the most civilized nations. Disputes and crises of this country must be resolved only by political channels and negotiation. The tramp of Syrians must be stopped. They must not be killed due to hunger.”
Shaikh Abdol-Hamid pointed out at the end of his speech, “We call on all powers, states and the UN to make their efforts to resolve the crises of the Syrian nation. There must be a ceasefire immediately, there must not be any surrounded city in Syria and the problems of refugees should be resolved urgently.”
