Take the Advantage of the Spring of Ramadan

Shaikh Abdol-Hamid termed the blessing month of Ramadan the ‘spiritual spring’ and the ‘season of worship’, urging on taking advantage of this ‘golden opportunity’.
Khateeb of Sunnis began his sermon of the first Friday of Ramadan, 19th June 2015, by the Qur’anic verse: «يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الصِّيَامُ كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ» and said, “Allah the Sublime has bestowed us various kinds of blessings and facilities for nourishing human body. In the same way, He has given human beings some blessings to nourish and support their spiritual nature.”

“The Last Messenger of Allah introduced the best plan of purification for mankind. Neglecting these plans and tools ends up with committing sins and fire of the Hell. Unfortunately many of people refuse to exercise the divine plans of purification; while there is no any difficulty to act upon the teachings of Shari’ah, rather they are in accordance with the capabilities of human beings. Fasting is only in Ramadan and days not nights,” he underlined.

Alluding to some virtues of Ramadan, Mawlana Abdol-Hamid said, “Ramadan is the month of the revelation of the Noble Qur’an and we celebrate this blest month by observing fast. Fasting has been obligatory in order to make us familiar with the Qur’an. Fasting is the Sunnah and way of prophets, peace be upon them.”

He termed ‘reaching to piety’ the main aim of fasting and said, “The main object of fasting is creation of piety and Taqwa; the noble Qur’an says clearly: ‘O Believers, the Fast has been made obligatory on you just as it was prescribed for the followers of the Prophets before you. It is expected that this will produce piety in you.’ So fasting must forbid us from sins and misdeeds. According to a Hadith, if someone observes fast but does not leave sins, Allah does not need his fasting. Fasting means to avoid sins. Sins are forbidden always in all months, but it is much worse if someone commits sins during Ramadan.”

The rector of Darululoom Zahedan further said, “The way is paved for us in Ramadan to worship Allah more than any time. Take the advantage of this month fully and prepare for the Hereafter life. Recite the Noble Qur’an and purify your soul. Make good plans to carry out the best deeds in the whole month of Ramadan; do not wait for the last days. Who is sure that s/he would be alive until the end of Ramadan? We must repent to Allah and gather the blessings of Ramadan.”

“Worship the Almighty has much as you can. Enhance your condition of spirituality and do not show any laziness in worshipping Allah. During Taraweeh, prayers should be offered calmly. Hafez imams must not make prayers of people incomplete by fast reciting and rapidly moving in prayers,” he addressed the audience.

Khateeb of Sunnis concluded his points by calling on the worshipers to take care of needy people, poor families and pay Zakah.
