Islamic Seminaries Must Refuse Gov. Aids

The outstanding Iranian Sunni leader, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid Isma’eelzahi, urged on the rectors of Islamic seminaries in Sistan-Baluchistan, Iran, to refuse any government aid.
He was addressing a meeting of the rectors of the Coordination Council of Sunni Seminaries in the province on Wednesday, 18 March, 2015 (27 Jumadi-al-Oula, 1436).
Talking to eminent Sunni Ulama of Sistan-Baluchistan, southeastern Iran, in Khash city, he said, “We have gathered here to discuss educational and cultural affairs of our Madrassahs; it is a very important matter even more than any other issue right now. The value of mankind depends on their education, edification and knowledge. Such things need cooperation and consultation.”
Friday Imam and Khateeb of Sunnis in Zahedan further said, “Religious freedom and independence of Islamic seminaries of Sunnis in Iran are vital issues. Politically we are citizens of Islamic Republic of Iran. By full and just implementation of the constitution, many of problems would be resolved. But some authorities enforce their self-made rules. While legally we are free to make decisions on our religious and educational matters.”
“All Sunnis should freely worship according to their jurisprudences in any corner of the country. Iran does not belong to any particular group or community; rather it is the motherland of all Iranians.”
The chief of the Coordination Council of Sunni Seminaries in Sistan-Baluchistan underlined, “Religious schools must continue their activities by public donations as the past. There is much blessing and sincerity in public donations. But states and governments have some political interests in their donations to religious schools. We must endure difficulties and put our trust in the Sublime.”
It is noteworthy that the rectors of Sunni seminaries had written a letter to the Iranian supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, which was read before the audience at the meeting of top Sunni Ulama of Sistan-Baluchistan in Khash. The letter was about the exemption of Sunni seminaries’ students, the issue of conscription of these seminaries’ graduates and their health insurance.
