Iran: a Sunni scholar faces biased trial

Iran, Kurdistan- The authorities of the Intelligence Ministry and Hamadan-based Special Court for Clergy have summoned Kaak Hasan Amini, Mufti and Shar’ee Judge of Iranian Kurdistan.

Shaikh Amini was evoked to an office of Intelligence Ministry and Special Court for Clergy in Sanandaj and Hamadan Tuesday, May 29, 2012. A news website, sunninews , published some parts of the authorities’ questions last week.

According to the report, the chairman of Maktab-e-Qur’an Movement of Kurdistan was reproved by Intelligence authorities over his interviews to some foreign radio channels and Sunni satellite TV channels like Nour and Kalemeh. Besides, the officials snapped him that why he had criticized the Iranian rulers over implementation of discriminative and biased stances for Sunnis, Kurdish and other minority descent of Iran.

Kaak Hasan Amini, the eminent Iranian Sunni scholar in the west of the country, was asked about his censure on “disqualification process” of numerous nominates for national Majlis elections and presidential election by the Guardian Council. He was questioned about his criticism on health and education departments for getting lots of fees from citizens while education and health facilities should be free completely.

Shaikh Amini is a strong opponent of government-made plan to get the control of Sunnis’ mosques and seminaries in Iran. He reprehended the regime repeatedly over discriminative stances in Sunnis’ employment.

The question and argument meeting continued for hours where Shaikh Amini expressed his view points reasonably.

Two days later, Kaak Hasan Amini received a summon letter from the Special Court of Hamadan; he was remanded on Tuesday, 19 June 2012 to answer such questions over there.
