Shaikh Abdol-Hamid, Khateeb of Sunnis in Zahedan, called on voters to consider the principle of ‘meritocracy’ in electing of the members of the Majlis, Iranian parliament.
\nTalking to tens of thousands worshipers in Zahedan, Iran, on Friday 12th Feb. 2016, he said, “However it was the wish and demand of people from the Guardian Council to approve the qualification of more candidates, but we must try to elect the most capable candidates among the approved ones.”
\n“As I have said previously, the upcoming election should not be religious and ethnic. Rather we must consider capabilities and competences of the candidates and vote for those who think of the interests of people,” he underlined.
\nThe eminent Sunni leader further said, “I think a person who prefers the interests of common people and enjoys brevity, capability and dealing with all is the best choice for representing people in the parliament. Thus, I’d like to call on all, including Shias and Sunnis, to constitute coalition; it strengthens our unity and rebuffs divisions. There should be a Shia and a Sunni representative for Zahedan city in Majlis.”
\n“I’d like to advise the people of Sistan-Baluchistan, especially the residents of Zahedan and Sistan \u2013 the northern part of the province, to vote in favor of each other’s candidates. They should prefer the ones who can make people closer as well as defend their due rights. The candidates who would help the provincial authorities in serving people should be elected,” Shaikh Abdol-Hamid stressed.<\/p>\n
Candidates should accept the facts<\/strong> In the last part of his speech, Mawlana Abdol-Hamid alluded to the inauguration of the juridical (Fiqhi) branch of Ansar Bank in Zahedan and said, “I thank the officials of Ansar Bank for the establishment a usury-free branch in Zahedan city. \nIn a part of his sermon, the Friday imam of Sunnis addressed the registered candidates said, “All who have been approved as candidates for the Majlis elections, should notice if the elites agree to vote a particular person, others are requested to be happy with that, because representing people is a responsibility and trust.”
\n“As the vote of people is a trust, accepting the choice of people is also a trust and duty. If a capable person was not given the duty, still he should thank the Almighty and the person who would get this duty, should seek refuge to Allah,” he added more.<\/p>\n
\n“By the blessings of Allah, there is a motivation in the country to boost Islamic banking and take care of juridical restrictions. Ansar Bank has been pioneer in this regard and Resalat Bank also has taken some positive steps in the last years.
