{"id":3973,"date":"2015-01-06T05:50:50","date_gmt":"2015-01-06T05:50:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost\/wp3\/?p=3973"},"modified":"2015-01-06T05:50:50","modified_gmt":"2015-01-06T05:50:50","slug":"blast-hits-houthi-rebel-base-in-yemen-capital","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sunnionline.us\/english\/2015\/01\/06\/3973\/","title":{"rendered":"Blast hits Houthi rebel base in Yemen capital"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"line-height: 1.3em; color: #000000;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/yaman map.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" align=\"right\" \/>A bomb blast has struck a buidling used as a base for Houthi rebel fighters in Yemen&#8217;s capital, local residents and police said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>  <!--more-->  <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The police chief in Sanaa said one person was injured in the attack that happened in the east of the city on Monday. <\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The building and neghbouring houses were damaged in the blast, he added.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Houthis, who control large swathes of Yemen and are regarded as enemies by Sunni fighters including those in al-Qaeda&#8217;s Yemeni wing, sealed off the area soon afterwards to prevent access to it, local residents said.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Photographs posted on Yemeni social media accounts, which could not be immediately verified, showed the front of a building in which the windows had been blown out and bricks were missing from around the door.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Al-Qaeda attack<\/strong><\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The attack came a day after a bomb explosion in a mainly Shia district in Sanaa killed at least four people including a reporter and wounded 25 others, according to officials. Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) claimed responsibility for the attack.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Shia Houthi rebels seized control of the capital in September as part of a protracted power struggle with President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
