{"id":3960,"date":"2014-12-28T07:23:18","date_gmt":"2014-12-28T07:23:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost\/wp3\/?p=3960"},"modified":"2014-12-28T07:23:18","modified_gmt":"2014-12-28T07:23:18","slug":"egypt-jails-muslim-brotherhood-leader","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sunnionline.us\/english\/2014\/12\/28\/3960\/","title":{"rendered":"Egypt jails Muslim Brotherhood leader"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/stories\/news3\/muhammad el-beltagy.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" align=\"right\" \/>A senior Muslim Brotherhood leader in Egypt has been sentenced to six years in prison for insulting a panel of judges.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>  <!--more-->  <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Mohamed el-Beltagy, who heads the Brotherhood&#8217;s Freedom and Justice Part, was accused of offending presiding judge Shaaban el-Shami for a case in which he and 130 other defendants are accused of staging prison breaks during the January 2011 uprising that toppled longtime leader Hosni Mubarak.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">El-Beltagy had protested el-Shami&#8217;s registration of evidence from within a glass cage used to hold defendants.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">When the judge ordered him out of the room for causing chaos, el-Beltagy said: &#8220;This is not justice&#8221;.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The judge took his remarks as an insult, and found him in contempt of court for the second time since the trial began.
