{"id":393,"date":"2010-06-07T13:50:18","date_gmt":"2010-06-07T13:50:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost\/wp3\/?p=393"},"modified":"2010-06-07T13:50:18","modified_gmt":"2010-06-07T13:50:18","slug":"palestinians-killed-by-israeli-fire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sunnionline.us\/english\/2010\/06\/07\/393\/","title":{"rendered":"Palestinians killed by Israeli fire"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin-left: 5px; float: right;\" alt=\"israel-ship-attack\" src=\"images\/stories\/news\/israel-ship-attack.jpg\" width=\"239\" height=\"195\" \/>At least four Palestinians have been killed after an Israeli navy patrol fired on a group of men allegedly wearing diving gear in Nuseirat off the Gaza coast.<\/div>\n<p>  <!--more-->  <\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Israeli military said those killed on Monday were planning a &#8220;terror attack&#8221;.<br \/>But al-Aqsa Martyrs&#8217; Brigades, the armed wing of Fatah, told Al Jazeera the men were members of the group and were only conducting &#8220;training exercises&#8221;.<br \/>&#8220;An Israeli naval patrol spotted a boat with four men in diving suits on their way to carry out a terror attack and fired at them,&#8221; an Israeli military statement said.<br \/>Hamas security sources confirmed finding four bodies and said a fifth man was missing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8216;Gunshots to head&#8217;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nicole Johnston, Al Jazeera&#8217;s correspondent in Gaza, said there were six people on the boat when it came under Israeli fire.<br \/>&#8220;Four were killed, one escaped &#8211; a senior member of al-Aqsa &#8211; and one person is still missing. The group presumes he too is dead.<br \/>&#8220;The men were doing group training exercises, they were not fishing as had previously been reported by Palestinian medical sources that said they were fishermen,&#8221; she said.<br \/>Moawiya Hassanain, a Palestinian health official, said two of the dead had suffered multiple gunshots to the head.<br \/>The incident came a week after nine pro-Palestinian activists were killedfollowing an Israeli raid on a Gaza-bound aid ship.<br \/>Israel has been enforcing a blockade of Gaza since 2007, when Hamas took control of the territory.
