{"id":3568,"date":"2014-04-24T06:38:24","date_gmt":"2014-04-24T06:38:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost\/wp3\/?p=3568"},"modified":"2014-04-24T06:38:24","modified_gmt":"2014-04-24T06:38:24","slug":"swiss-muslims-get-first-academic-center","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sunnionline.us\/english\/2014\/04\/24\/3568\/","title":{"rendered":"Swiss Muslims Get First Academic Center"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/stories\/news3\/swiss-Muslims-Get-First-Academic-Center.JPG\" border=\"0\" style=\"float: right; margin: 5px;\" \/>Switzerland\u2019s first Islamic research center has opened its doors to promote the moderate values of Islam in the European country and offer Swiss Muslim a rare Islamic education in Deutsche.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>  <!--more-->  <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The institute board of trustees groups scholars tasked with preparing the curricula &#8220;on sound academic bases as adopted by accredited Islamic institutes in the Islamic nations,&#8221; Abdullah Nicholas Blancho, board member of the newly-established Islamic institute, told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Tuesday, April 22.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The newly established institute, &#8220;the Islamic Sciences Institute&#8221; has been launched by the Swiss Islamic Shura Council.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">According to the council, the new institute would allow people from all faiths to enroll in Qur\u2019an, Sunnah as well as Hadith studies.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The establishment would offer Islamic religious studies in Deutsche, filling an important void due to lack of a sufficient number of qualified academic Islamic figures capable of lecturing about Islam in the European country.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Islamic institute aims to &#8220;promote the moderate values and principles of Islam that essentially call for tolerance&#8221;, according to Blancho.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It was suggested to offer correct information about the Islamic faith and correct wrong impression that &#8220;Islam is incapable to address contemporary issues,&#8221; he added.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Switzerland is home to an estimated 500,000 Muslims, out of a population of more than 8 million, most of whom are immigrants from Albania and elsewhere in the Balkans.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Established in 2009, the Swiss Islamic Shura Council represents a group of Swiss Muslims, including academic figures, who defends Islam and Muslims rights in the European country by countering far-right hate campaigns.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">There are nearly 160 mosques and prayer rooms in Switzerland, mainly in disused factories and warehouses.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Only four of them have minarets, none of them used to raise the Azan, the call to prayer, which is banned.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Source:<\/span> <em><strong>OnIslam<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Switzerland\u2019s first Islamic research center has opened its doors to promote the moderate values of Islam in the European country and offer Swiss Muslim a rare Islamic education in Deutsche.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[36],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-3568","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-c102-muslim-minorities"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.6 -
