There are saheeh ahaadeeth from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) concerning the virtues of reciting Soorat al-Kahf during the day or night of Jumu\u2019ah (Friday). These include:<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

(a)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 From Abu Sa\u2019eed al-Khudri, who said: \u201cWhoever readsSoorat al-Kahf on the night of Jumu\u2019ah, will have a light that will stretch between him and the Ancient House (the Ka\u2019bah).\u201d<\/span>
(Narrated by al-Daarimi, 3407. This hadeeth was classed as saheeh by Shaykh al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami, 6471) <\/span>
(b)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cWhoever reads Soorat al-Kahf on the day of Jumu\u2019ah, will have a light that will shine from him from one Friday to the next.\u201d<\/span>
(Narrated by al-Haakim, 2\/399; al-Bayhaqi, 3\/249. Ibn Hajar said inTakhreej al-Adhkaar that this is a hasan hadeeth, and he said, this is the strongest report that has been narrated concerning reading Soorat al-Kahf. See: Fayd al-Qadeer, 6\/198. It was classed as saheeh by Shaykh al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami\u2019, 6470) <\/span>
(c)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It was narrated that Ibn \u2018Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: \u201cThe Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: \u2018Whoever reads Soorat al-Kahf on the day of Jumu\u2019ah, a light will shine for him from beneath his feet to the clouds of the sky, which will shine for him on the Day of Resurrection, and he will be forgiven (his sins) between the two Fridays.\u2019\u201d<\/span>
Al-Mundhiri said, this was narrated by Abu Bakr ibn Mardawayh in hisTafseer, with an isnaad with which there was nothing wrong.<\/span>
(al-Targheeb wa\u2019l-Tarheeb, 1\/298) <\/span>
The soorah may be read during the night or the day of Jumu\u2019ah. The night of Jumu\u2019ah starts from sunset on Thursday, and the day of Jumu\u2019ah ends at sunset. Therefore the time for reading this soorah extends from sunset on Thursday to sunset on Friday. <\/span>
Al-Mannaawi said:<\/span>
Al-Haafiz ibn Hajar said in his Amaali: \u201cIn some reports it says \u2018the day of Jumu\u2019ah\u2019 and in some reports it says \u2018the night of Jumu\u2019ah\u2019. They may be reconciled by saying that what is meant is the day which includes the night and vice versa.\u201d (Fayd al-Qadeer, 6\/199) \u00a0<\/span>
Al-Mannaawi also said:<\/span>
\u201cIt is recommended to read it during the day or night of Jumu\u2019ah, as al-Shaafa’i (may Allaah have mercy on him) stated.\u201d (Fayd al-Qadeer, 6\/198) <\/span>
There are no saheeh ahaadeeth concerning reading Soorat Aal \u2018Imraan on Friday. All the reports that have been narrated concerning that are eitherda\u2019eef jiddan (very weak) or mawdoo\u2019 (fabricated). <\/span>
It was narrated that Ibn \u2018Abbaas said: \u201cThe Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: \u2018Whoever recites the soorah in which the family of \u2018Imraan (Aal \u2018Imraan) are mentioned on Fridays, Allaah and His angels will send blessings upon him until the sun sets.\u2019\u201d<\/span>
(Narrated by al-Tabaraani in al-Mu\u2019jam al-Awsat, 6\/191; and al-Kabeer, 11\/48. This hadeeth is da\u2019eef jiddan (very weak) or mawdoo\u2019 (fabricated)). <\/span>
Al-Haythami said, \u201cThis was narrated by al-Tabaraani in al-Awsat or al-Kabeer, and it [its isnaad] includes Talhah ibn Zayd al-Riqqi, who is da\u2019eef(jiddan) ((very) weak).\u201d (Majma\u2019 al-Zawaa\u2019id, 2\/168). <\/span>
Ibn Hajar said: Talhah is very weak, and Ahmad and Abu Dawood accused him of fabricating reports. (See Fayd al-Qadeer, 6\/199) <\/span>
Shaykh al-Albaani said: (it is) mawdoo\u2019 (fabricated). See hadeeth no. 5759 in Da\u2019eef al-Jaami\u2019. <\/span>
And al-Taymi narrated in al-Targheeb that \u201cWhoever recites Soorat al-Baqarah and Soorat Aal \u2018Imraan on the night of Jumu\u2019ah will have reward like that which is between the seventh earth and the seventh heaven.\u201d<\/span>
Al-Mannaawi said, it is ghareeb da\u2019eef jiddan (strange and very weak).(Fayd al-Qadeer, 6\/199) <\/span>
