{"id":3175,"date":"2013-12-07T08:50:38","date_gmt":"2013-12-07T08:50:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost\/wp3\/?p=3175"},"modified":"2013-12-07T08:50:38","modified_gmt":"2013-12-07T08:50:38","slug":"allah-is-indivisible-he-loves-what-is-indivisible","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sunnionline.us\/english\/2013\/12\/07\/3175\/","title":{"rendered":"Allah is Indivisible &#038; He loves what is indivisible"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/stories\/muslims\/allah1.jpg\" border=\"0\" style=\"float: right; margin: 5px;\" \/>Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: \u201cFollowers of the Qur\u2019an, observe (devotions) an odd number of times, for Allah is Indivisible and loves that which is indivisible.\u201d [<em>Sunan al-Tirmidh\u012b<\/em> (453),<em> Sunan Ab\u012b D\u0101w\u016bd<\/em> (1416),<em> Sunan al-Nas\u0101\u2019\u012b<\/em> (1675), and<em> Sunan Ibn M\u0101jah<\/em> (1169)] <\/span><\/p>\n<p>  <!--more-->  <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Arabic word witr refers to a single, indivisible entity. It also refers to a number that cannot be divided by two. The word is found with this second meaning in the verse: \u201c(I swear) by the even number and the odd.\u201d [<em>S\u016brah al-Fajr<\/em>: 3] <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) made the same statement about ALlah loving that which is indivisible when he said: \u201cAllah has ninety-nine names, one hundred less one, whoever comprehends them all will enter Paradise, and He is Indivisible and loves that which is indivisible.\u201d [<em>Sah\u012bh al-Bukh\u0101r\u012b (6410) and Sah\u012bh Muslim<\/em> (2677)] <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Allah is the Indivisible whose essence cannot be divided. He has no partner, and there is no one who can compare with or rival Him in any way. He is One, unique in His names, attributes and actions. \u201cThere is nothing like unto Him, and He is the Seeing, the Hearing.\u201d [S\u016brah al-Sh\u016br\u0101: 11] and: \u201cDo you know of any who is worthy of His name?\u201d [<em>S\u016brah Maryam<\/em>: 65] <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Allah is Indivisible, and He loves it for us to observe our devotions an odd number of times. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What this means is that Allah loves all that He prescribed for us to observe in odd numbers. He loves these things because He commanded us to observe them and determined them to be carried out in their particular forms in accordance with the dictates of His wisdom. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What devotions are being referred to here? Scholars have differed in answering this question. Some say that the Prophet (peace be upon him) is speaking about the Friday prayer, or the Day of `Arafah during the Pilgrimage, or to the Maghrib prayer which is three units long, or to the Witr prayer at the end of the day which is always observed as an odd number of prayer units. However, the best approach is to understand it as general in meaning, applicable to all prescribed acts of devotion that are observed an odd number of times. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I also believe that it refers to the worshippers who are foremost in doing good deeds, since they stand alone in excellence by doing far more than others are willing to do. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Allah praises them by saying: \u201cThe foremost are the foremost.\u201d [<em>S\u016brah al-W\u0101qi`ah<\/em>: 10] <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">And by saying: \u201cBe foremost in seeking forgiveness from your Lord.\u201d [<em>S\u016brah al-Had\u012bd<\/em>: 21] <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Likewise, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) \u201cThose who strive in competition (for excellence) stand peerless.\u201d When he was asked who he was referring to, he said: \u201cThey are the men and women who remember Allah often.\u201d [<em>Sah\u012bh Muslim<\/em> (2676)] <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Allah loves those who stand out ahead of the rest through their devotion and their good deeds, especially when they strive to help others. Allah says: \u201cFor this, those who strive with each other should strive.\u201d [S\u016brah al-Mutaffif\u012bn: 26] By contrast, Allah hates those who strive with one another in stinginess, sin, iniquity and misappropriating the rights of others. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Allah is alone, separate and distinct from His creation. He is the Indivisible who has created His creatures in pairs. We find numerous examples of this. Rarely do we find things that are indivisible into pairs. Allah says: \u201cAnd everything We have created in pairs, so that perchance you might reflect.\u201d [S\u016brah al-Dh\u0101riy\u0101t: 49] <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">There is a supplication associated with this meaning. Once, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) entered the mosque and saw a man who was sitting and completing his prayer. The man was supplicating with the following words: \u201cO Allah! I ask You by Your being the One, Alone, the Self-Subsisting who neither begets nor is begotten, and who none is like unto Him.
