The bombing occurred near the Foji Foundation School and office of the Balochistan Public Service Commission. The blast destroyed three vehicles, four motorbikes and damaged several shops.According to DIG Investigation Hamid Shakeel explosives were strapped to a motorbike which was parked on Smungli Road at main chowk of Shahbaz Town to target security personnel vehicle escorting the schoolchildren.<\/p>\n
\u201cExplosives were detonated when vehicle of security forces passed by the area,\u201d DIG said adding that as result of blast, five people, including three security personnel and a woman were killed on the sight and more than 11 others wounded.<\/p>\n
However, according to rescue workers more than 20 people were injured in the incident.<\/p>\n
A huge fire was erupted after the explosion but timely action of the fire brigade doused it.The rescue workers shifted dead and injured to Combined Military Hospital where some of the wounded said to be in critical condition.<\/p>\n
The deceased were identified as Khurshid Baigam, Mir Muhammad, security personnel Shahbaz, Mumtaz and Atibar while injured security personnel were identified as Lance Naek Rasheed, Arsalan, Shahid, Najam and Hasim Raza.<\/p>\n
Balochistan Home Secretary Akbar Hussain Durrani, Quetta CCPO Mir Zubair Mehmood and DIG Investigation Hamid Shakeel reached the site soon after the incident.<\/p>\n
The home secretary told the media that the explosives were locally made. He assured that all available resources would be utilised to wipe out terrorism.<\/p>\n
He appealed the protesting doctors to resume their duties in emergency wards of hospitals to rescue the bombing victims. Durrani said that tight security arrangements had been made on routes of Muharram processions to ensure security of the people.CCPO Mir Zubir Mehmood said that despite incidents of terrorism the morale of law enforcement agencies.<\/p>\n
He said that evidences were being gathered to track down the terrorists.DIG Investigation Hamid Shakeel said that over 15kg explosives were used in the blast. He said that investigation were underway to ascertain whether it was a remote control explosion or a suicide attack. Emergency has been declared in the Quetta CMH due to the strike of doctors in other hospitals of the city.<\/p>\n
