The Iranian People Are Pleased with the Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding / The Path of “Corruption” and “Extremism” Must Be Blocked for a Prosperous and Better Iran

In his Friday sermon on June 19, 2026, Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol-Hamid referred to the signing of the peace memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States, calling it a positive development for the Iranian nation.
He emphasized the need for a “struggle against corruption” and “replacing corrupt and extremist individuals with competent, talented, and moderate people” to protect the benefits of this agreement, calling it indispensable for “a prosperous and better Iran.”

The Middle East is the Economic Jugular Vein of Various Nations and Countries; Its Peace Demands “Wisdom and Correct Politics”
According to the official website of the Friday Imam of Sunnis in Zahedan, Mawlana Abdol-Hamid said: “We are all happy about the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States. We support peace and consider it beneficial for the entire world, and we believe that this peace will be in the interest of the Iranian nation.”
He added: “The Middle East is the economic jugular vein of the world’s nations and countries, and the energy of many nations is supplied from this region. Therefore, wisdom and correct politics demand that the Middle East, which has suffered from conflicts and wars in past years, should now achieve peace, and everyone should benefit from the advantages of this region under the shadow of peace and security.”

The Middle East Needs a Comprehensive, All-Inclusive, and Sustainable Peace That Ends All Conflicts
He said: “The Middle East needs a comprehensive, all-inclusive, and sustainable peace that can also end the long-standing conflict between Israel and the Palestinians and offer a just solution to the Palestinian issue. The war between Russia and Ukraine must also culminate in peace. What is needed is an international agreement among all countries so that past conflicts are resolved and all nations achieve peace and tranquility.”

Financial Corruption is at Its Peak in the Country; The Public is Concerned About the Loss of Frozen Assets That Are About to Be Released
Addressing some domestic issues, the Friday Imam of Zahedan said: “We all know that corruption is at its peak in many sectors of the country. The lifting of sanctions and the release of the country’s frozen assets, which was among the demands of the Iranian nation, is one of the clauses of the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States, and the people are happy about it.”
He added: “But the public is concerned that if the current financial corruption is not brought to an end, a large portion of these assets will fall prey to this corruption, and the Iranian people, who have endured deprivation and hardships for years, will be deprived of these resources and their problems will remain unsolved.”

Remove “Incompetent”, “Corrupt”, and “Extremist” Individuals and Assign Responsibilities to “Capable”, “Honest”, and “Moderate” People
Addressing the authorities, Mawlana Abdol-Hamid said: “This agreement and peace are in favor of the Iranian people, who have been facing hardships for years. However, for this to work, it is necessary for authorities to dismiss without discrimination those incompetent individuals who are involved in corruption or tied to certain centers, and replace them with capable, competent, and conscientious people, even if they are not religious individuals. Until corruption is eliminated from Iran, the country cannot truly progress.”
He further stated: “The second important task is to retire extremist and hardline elements, because the root of most of the country’s and nation’s difficulties and plight is this extremism. It has been said repeatedly that extremism harms faith and religion and leads countries and nations to destruction.”
He said: “It is essential that moderate and prudent politicians occupy high and mid-level administrative and decision-making positions so that the country can move in the right direction. Until the country adopts moderation and the correct path, problems will not be resolved.”

Domestic and Foreign Policies Must Align with “The Interests of Iran and the World” and “Cordial Relations with Nations”; This is the Wish of the Iranian Nation
Emphasizing the need for a shift in domestic and foreign policies, the Friday Imam of Zahedan said: “The general desire of the Iranian people is for foreign policies to align with the interests of Iran and the world, mutual respect, and good relations with all nations.”
He added: “The Iranian people protested in 2019, 2022, and January 2026, and unfortunately suffered casualties. Therefore, it is expected that the voice of this nation be heard, its demands be addressed, and domestic and foreign policies be formulated in accordance with the interests of the people and the country.”

A Better and Prosperous Iran Depends on “Justice and Equality Among Nationalities and Religions”, “Respect for Women’s Rights”, and “Providing Necessary Freedoms”
Mawlana Abdol-Hamid said: “The Iranian nation is a diverse nation comprised of various ethnicities, sects, and religions; therefore, it is essential to keep all of them in mind under the new circumstances. If authorities establish justice and equity among ethnic and religious communities, respect women’s rights, ensure necessary freedoms for workers, parties, and organizations, and end the harshness of past years, Iran can become a better and prosperous country.”

Iran Cannot Be Run Through “Religious Politics”
He clarified: “If the authorities conduct politics solely on religious grounds, they cannot run the whole of Iran, because not all residents of Iran share the same religious inclination; Shias, Sunnis, Muslims, and non-Muslims all live here, and religious politics breeds resentment in others. If domestic and foreign policies align with both the worldly and spiritual interests of the people, both God and the public will support them.”

“The Death Penalty” and “Seizure of Dissidents’ Property” Must Stop / Most People View Recent Executions as “Political”
Expressing concern over the rising number of executions in the country, the prominent Iranian cleric said: “Regrettably, there has been an increase in capital punishment instances recently. According to reports received from prisons, a large number of individuals are awaiting execution, among whom the proportion of Baloch people is reported to be high, though individuals from other ethnicities are also included.”
He told the authorities: “We have said before and we say it again, stop these executions. The perception of the majority of the Iranian people is that all these executions are political in nature and are carried out to suppress protests, even if they are labeled as drug offenses. Similarly, we demand that the authorities stop seizing the properties of dissidents.”

We Want Justice and Prosperity in Iran; Our Wish is for the Iranian People to Live with Dignity
Mawlana Abdol-Hamid said: “I do not consider myself a representative of the nation, but as a well-wishing citizen, I desire justice and development in Iran so that the people can be at ease, live with dignity and honor, and breathe a sigh of relief.”
He told the authorities: “We are not your enemies, but your well-wishers. If attention had been paid in the past to the things I have repeatedly pointed out, Iran would certainly not have suffered from conflict, and the people would not have had to bear these losses of life.”

The Treatment of Protesting Women in Southern Kerman Was “Humiliating”; Authorities Should Listen to Their Voice
In a part of his address, Mawlana Abdol-Hamid referred to recent events that occurred in the Taftan district of Sistan and Baluchestan and an area in Kerman province, saying: “Recently, some women protested against mining activities in these areas. During these protests, the treatment meted out to women was insulting, particularly in Kerman.”
He urged the police and other authorities of Kerman province to pay attention to this issue, investigate it, and listen to the demands of these women.

The People of Taftan are Suffering Damages Due to Mining; The Interests of Local People Must Be Respected in These Projects
He added: “In Taftan as well, some inappropriate behavior was directed toward protesting women, though authorities state that this has been investigated. However, the core issue is that the people of Taftan are suffering losses due to mining, especially in the sectors of agriculture and livestock farming. Until their voice is heard and their rights and interests are respected, such protests may surface again. Therefore, it is necessary to find a fundamental solution to these problems, and the local population must also benefit from these mines.”

Authorities Must Attend to the Water Outage Issue in Zahedan / Proper Management of Sistan’s Water is Essential
In the final part of his speech, Mawlana Abdol-Hamid reacted to the frequent water supply disruptions in Zahedan, saying: “We demand that the authorities of Zahedan address the issue of city water outages and make every effort to minimize them. If a complete solution is not possible, at least ensure an arrangement where water distribution is done fairly.”
He once again thanked the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan for releasing water toward the Sistan region, and while expressing hope for the continuation of this action, he stressed the “proper management of Sistan’s water” so that the seasonal farming of the people there is not adversely affected.
