Prominent Kurdish Clerics Sentenced to Heavy Punishments

On Wednesday June 7, 2023, the Special Court for Clerics of Hamadan sentenced two other prominent scholars of Kurdistan to imprisonment, whipping and stripping of clerical cloths.
Local news sources reported that the Special Court of for Clerics of Hamadan has sentenced Haaj Mamousta Mullah Loqman Amini, Imam of the Grand Mosque of Chahar-Yar Nabi of Sanandaj to endure eleven years imprisonment and exile to Ardebil for two years.
He was also banned from leading the Friday prayers and dressing in clerical cloths.
The Court sentenced Mamousta Ibrahim Karimi, the Friday prayer leader of Naalehu mosque of Sanandaj to twelve years imprisonment, exile to Bushehr for two years, and he has been banned from leading the Friday speech and dressing in clerical cloths.
Previously, at least four other Kurdish Sunni scholars had been sentenced to imprisonment, whipping and stripping of clerical cloths after the nationwide protests in Iran.
