Iran’s Sunni Clerics React to Blasphemous Remarks of Iran’s CJ

Following the recent blasphemous remarks of Iran’s chief justice, Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Eje’i and the remarks of Ayatollah Javadi Amoli, a Shiite top cleric against Mu’awiyah, may Allah be pleased with him, Sunni clerics from different parts of Iran decried the blasphemous remarks.
The official website of the Sunni community of Iran, SunniOnline, reported, the Sunni scholars considered insult of the companions against national unity and cohesion, asking the state to prevent any blasphemous act against the sanctities of Sunnis, especially against the position of the Companions of the holy prophet, peace be upon him.
In this regard, teachers of Darululoom Zahedan issued a statement and expressed their anxiety about the bad consequences of such remarks. They considered these remarks hurting to the feelings of Muslims and called them against the unity and national interests of the country.
“The majority of Muslims in the world respect all the Companions of the holy prophet, peace be upon him. Muslims believe that no one should blaspheme the Companions. According to Sunnis, Ameer Mu’awiyah, may Allah be pleased with him, was one of the companions of the Prophet, whom the Prophet forbade from insulting them,” said teachers of Darululoom Zahedan in a statement.
“Undoubtedly, avoiding derogatory remarks that hurt feelings of the people of society is a basic need to maintain unity and neutralize the conspiracies of common enemies of both Shia and Sunni people”, teachers of Darululoom Zahedan concluded their statement.
Darululoom Zahedan is the biggest educational and social center of the Sunni community of Iran with more than 1000 students from different parts of Iran. Shaikh Abdol-Hamid, the most influential Iranian Sunni leader is the president of this big Islamic center located in Zahedan, southeast of Iran.
Mawlana Mohammad Gol, president of Makhzan-ul-Uloom Khash said: Mu’awiyah bin Abi Sufyan is always in the hearts of Muslims as a true companion of the Prophet PBUH, who took part in the battles of Hunain and Taif and helped Islam.
Kak Hasan Amini, a prominent scholar and political activist in Kurdistan\ Sanandaj, said in his reaction: “The Sunnis consider Mu’awiyah one of the true companions of the Prophet, among whom they respect them. An official in the rank of chief justice how do not know that Sayyidana Mu’awiyah is respectable and a sanctity for the majority of Muslims in the world?!”
Mufti Zakaria Dehvari, chairman of Darul-Ifta of Ain-ul-Uloom, Gosht\ Saravan, addressed the head of Judiciary, saying: The rude words against one of the companions of the holy Prophet, peace be upon him who was the writer of the revelation, was strange. So while repenting from such sentence, you must apologize to the Sunnis, who are one and a half billion Muslims in the world.”
Mawlana Mohammad Amin Askani, internal director of Anwar al-Haramain, Pashamag in Sarbaz said: “Mr. Mohseni Eje’i! Apologize to all Sunnis for this insult and announce your mistake through the national media.”
Mamousta Tawfiq Menbari from Sanandaj, the president of the ‘Ashab’ seminary says: “The chief justice knows well that by insulting Mu’awiyah, he has wounded the hearts of a third of his countrymen, while the position and responsibility of the head of the judiciary was not suitable for such words.”
Mawlawi Hafiz Abdol-Ghaffar Naqshbandi, vice-Friday prayer leader of Sunnis in Rask of southern Balochistan said: “Such insulting and using unappropriated words against one of the purest people of the Ummah and one of the best companions of the Prophet, by the head of the Judiciary, will create great sedition.”
The Teachers of Makhzan-ul-Uloom Khash seminary said in a statement: “We expected Mohseni Eje’i as the highest officer of the judiciary, dealing with such controversial issues and condemning the issues that have been rising through years. Alas! Today he himself is condemned to an insulting act and it has disappointed us.”
The teachers of Ahnaf seminary in Khaaf city of Khorasan, the imam of Tawhid grand mosque of Mashhad and Mawlana Abdos-Samad Karimzai of Iranshahr also issued statement and denounced the blasphemous words of the chief justice and Ayatollah Javadi Amoli.
