The virtual world with its facilities is one of the big and very useful blessings of this time which has made communication easy for mankind. This divine blessing is one of the best blessings of the time; the human should take advantage of his time’s blessings, otherwise he will remain behind of the caravan of advancement.
Certainly, a big blessing requires a gratitude that worth that blessing. For thanksgiving, first of all we should recognize the virtual world a divine favor. Secondly, we should utilize this technology within the limits of Shari’ah and we should know well that on the Judgment Day, definitely we will be interrogated about it.
A useful blessing can be altered into the worst pest if it is used wrongfully. Each time has a calamity and the calamity of the current time is misuse and wrongful utilization of internet and the virtual world.
Wrongful use of the virtual world carries various disadvantages including: educational, religious, social and moral damages. Misuse of the internet and the virtual world paves the way for the cultural assault of enemies and illicit relations and virtual love. Some heartbreaking road accidents take place thanks to using cell phone and internet during driving. Addiction to internet and mobile phone forbids people from worships as well as from studying and teaching. This addiction damages human memory and body with negative effects on social and wife-husband relationships.
Many of us are addicted to the internet; I mean we are always on the internet with no need. But the surprise is that we don’t know about this addiction. Apart from the use of the internet due to job necessity, using the internet and playing game in office and in classroom is considered the worst kind of internet addiction and a betrayal to that office.
Sharing useful materials and introducing of good channels and pages are examples of enjoining to the good with rewards. On the contrary, sharing vulgar and porn videos and pictures is a kind of encouragement towards sin and it is a punishable act. Introducers of vulgar pages and channels are advocators of the error. These astray people have been exemplified in the Hadith of the prophet, peace be upon him, where he said: “Whoever calls to guidance will have a reward similar to those who follow him, without detracting from their rewards at all. Whoever calls to misguidance will have sin upon him similar to those who follow him, without detracting from their sins at all.”
Being unrestrained in the internet is the biggest trap of Satan among the thousands traps of him. Those who try to trap girls or destroy relationship of a woman with her husband, they should know that this misfortune will also target their families; because whoever knocks the doors of others, his own door will be knocked, too.
A virtual meeting is like a real meeting; so all customs of real meetings should be applied in the virtual meetings. So men should have their own separate groups, especially for chat and women should have their separate groups.
If there is any discussion in any WhatsApp or any other platform to mock Islam, a believer should not join such dialogues, rather s/he should admonish them. If the mockers do not pay to his objection, s/he should leave the group in order to show his/her protest and hate.
In short, the virtual world is like medicine and a wise person should use it as much as he needs.
