Haji Omid Shahbakhsh, one of the prominent Baloch tribal elders in Iranian Balochistan passed away on Friday morning November 20, 2020 in Zahedan.
Haji Omid was one of the most influential and popular figures in Sistan-Balochistan, who was famous for justice and maintaining peace among Baloch tribes.
Due to his popularity and influence among Baloch tribes of Iran and neighboring countries, Haji Omid made many efforts to resolve ethnic conflicts.
He was the leading member of a delegation dispatched by Mawlana Abdol-Hamid to Pakistan who liberated and brought back 4 captured Iranian border guards in 2014.
Shaikh Abdol-Hamid, the most influential Sunni leader of Iran considered Haji Omid’s death as a great loss to the society and believed that he was a well-wisher and a just elder among Baloch people.
