Mawlana Sayyid Abdol-Ali Fazeli, the Friday Imam of Gazik in Darmiyan County of southern Khorasan province passed away on Wednesday April 1, 2020.
SunniOnline reported Shaikh Abdol-Ali Fazeli was 80. He was born in famous town of Gazik in 1940.
After learning the Holy Qur’an, basic books and primary education in his birthplace, he traveled to Herat, Afghanistan for further education.
When Mawlana Abdol-Ali Fazeli was 19, he went to Pakistan with late Mawlana Muhammad Hasan Barfi. He succeeded to learn necessary Islamic books from prominent Pakistani scholars such as Mufti Muhammad Shafi Osmani, Shaikh Saleemullah Khan, Mufti Mahmood and Mawlana Abdullah Darkhwasti.
He then traveled to India and studied in Darululoom Deoband. In India, he gained knowledge from Qari Muhammad Tayyib and other scholars.
At the end of his studies, he made a trip to Egypt and joined the reputable Al-Azhar University benefiting from Egyptian scholars such as Shaikh Shaltoot, Tantawi and etc.
He was an excellent scholar of Sunnis in Iran who was fluent in Arabic, Urdu, Persian and Pashto. Mawlana Fazeli was also an Arabic language teacher at state-run schools.
