Sunni Bloc of IR Parliament Demand Sunnis’ Share in New Cabinet

Ahead of forming new cabinet by president Rouhani, 20 Sunni members of the Majlis (parliament) have asked the president to “use elites of Sunnis in the 12th government.”
The official website of the Sunni community in Iran, SunniOnline, quoted a letter of the Sunni bloc in the parliament as saying: “The Iranian Sunnis supported widely the reformist slogans of Dr. Rouhani despite problems.”
The Sunni representatives urged on engaging Sunni elites in higher posts and management of the country terming it in accordance with the slogans of Rouhani during election campaign and national unity.
After the revolution in 1979, there has not been any Sunni minister or provincial governor in Iran with the majority of Shia population. According to non-official statics, at least 15 million Sunnis live in Iran, mostly in frontier provinces and areas.
The Sunni bloc clearly has asked the new president of Iran to nominate some Sunni citizens as ministers who will be approved by the parliament.
Before this, Mawlana Abdol-Hamid, the leading Sunni scholar in Iran, also asked for the participation of Sunnis in the upcoming cabinet.
More than 6 million Sunni voters have chosen Rouhani as their president in the latest election who won the race with 24 million votes.
