Advancement of a Society Depends on its Masterminds, Educated Class

A prominent Iranian Sunni scholar, Shaikh Mohammad Saleh Pordel, has urged on “qualitative advancement next to quantitative progress” in his discourse before Sunni worshippers in Zahedan, Iran.

Alluding to the importance of ‘qualitative progress of Sistan-Baluchistan’, the Sunni Imam from Hormozgan said, “The population of Sistan-Baluchistan is more than 3.5 million. There is no any problem about quantitative advancement; the need of this region is qualitative progress. People should progress morally, culturally and educationally with strong faith and commitment.”

“Advancement of any society depends on the scale of its masterminds and educated class. You have ‘Shaikh-ul-Islam [Mawlana Abdol-Hamid]; it makes you feel proud not only in Iran but also in the entire world.”

He pointed out to a survey of UNICEF in southern Iranian Baluchistan and said, “According to a survey conducted few years ago by UNICEF in poor areas of Jaask, Konarak and Zarrabad, Baloch students of these areas are the most intelligent students across the world! These are assets that must be discovered and focused on.”

In a part of his speech, Shaikh Pordel offered the administration of Darululoom Zahedan to constitute a committee in order to find out genius students, provide them consultations and other stuff they need particularly in middle and high schools.
