Syrian Mother Pens Letter to Foley’s Mother

A bereaved Syrian mother whose son has been killed by fighters of the Islamic State (IS) has written a letter to Diane Foley, the mother of the slain US reporter James Foley who was allegedly killed by the same group a few days ago.

“Dear Diane! My son lost his life for defending his beliefs and country,” the Syrian mother, who was not identified, wrote in her letter cited by Fars News Agency on Wednesday, August 27.
“We as Syrian mothers have been witnessing the beheading of our sons by the swords which have been given to the ISIL terrorists by the US statesmen for several years now.”
Foley’s death at the hands of the so-called Islamic State, formerly known as Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), appeared in a YouTube video titled “A Message to America”.
The video linked his death to the recent US attacks on Islamic State targets in Iraq.
The US launched air-strikes earlier this month allegedly to stem the advance of IS forces in northern Iraq.
The Syrian mother claimed that the weapons which are now in the hands of the ISIL terrorists have been purchased from the Israeli arms manufacturing factories by the petrodollars of the Gulf.
Millions of ordinary Syrians have lost their homes and livelihoods through the civil unrest taking place in the country.
At least 171,509 since the start of the Syrian conflict, Syrian Observatory for Human Rights announced last month.
The UK based network, said that the toll included 85,020 civilians, 9,092 children and 5,873 women.
SOHR stated that at least 27,746 of rebel fighters were killed, among them more than 19,000 civilian who joined the armed opposition to fight Assad.

Sharing Wounds
The Syrian mother has invited Diane to visit Syria and witness the cries of the bereaved mothers who are bitterly suffering their children’s death by the “US-led terrorists”.
“Dear Diane! We shouted a lot but no one heard our voice and no one helped us; maybe the killing of your dear son and your heart-rending and heartfelt cries right next to the White House could awaken the conscience of the human kind and your statesmen from negligence,” she added.
IS militants have been widely condemned by Muslims worldwide who staged several protests to express anger against the terrorist group.
A few days ago, Saudi Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz al-Sheikh condemned Al-Qaeda and the Islamic State jihadists as “enemy number one” of Islam.
Earlier this month, Egypt’s Grand Mufti Shawqi Allam had condemned the militants for atrocities they have been perpetrating in the countries and their violation of principles and teachings preached by Islam.
India Sunni and Shiite Muslims have united against the rise of ISIL, asserting that the actions of destroying holy sites, supporting sectarianism and divisions between Muslim groups cannot be attributed to a true Islamic state.
Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), Indonesia’s largest Islamic group has condemned ISIL, urging the government to take firmer action against the possible spread of the movement in Indonesia.
The Islamic Student Union (HMI) has also condemned Indonesian Muslims condoning and adhering to ISIL’s ideology.
