Israeli airstrikes target Gaza home and mosque

At least five Palestinians, including two children, were killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting a house in the central Gaza Strip on Saturday, according to a Health Ministry spokesman.

“Israeli warplanes struck a house in Al-Zuweida town, killing five members of the same family,” Ashraf al-Qodra told Anadolu Agency.
Meanwhile, Israeli planes early on Saturday launched a strike against a mosque in the southern Gaza Strip city of Khan Younis, but no human casualties were reported from the attack.
The attack turned, however, the eastern Khan Younis mosque to rubble and caused damage to surrounding homes and buildings, eyewitnesses said.
The latest fatalities brought to 2094 the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip since July 7.
Al-Qodra said that the deaths included 563 children, 255 women and 98 elderly people.
He added that roughly 10,503 Palestinians have also been injured in the Israeli offensive.
Israel resumed airstrikes in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday following the collapse of indirect, Egypt-hosted talks aimed at hammering out a permanent ceasefire deal.
Israel accuses Palestinian factions of violating a temporary ceasefire (which expired on midnight Tuesday) – a claim denied by resistance faction Hamas, which in turn accused the self-proclaimed Jewish state of attempting to derail talks in Cairo.
Since hostilities began on July 7, at least 67 Israelis – 64 soldiers and three civilians – have been killed, according to Israeli figures.
