Palestinians fired on as Israeli jets strike Gaza

“Moments ago, an IAF [Israeli Air Force] aircraft targeted a rocket-launching site in the Gaza Strip in order to eliminate an imminent threat to Israel,” Israeli Army spokesman Peter Lerner said via Twitter.

The Israeli army on Friday said its warplanes had struck a target in the northern Gaza Strip.
“Moments ago, an IAF [Israeli Air Force] aircraft targeted a rocket-launching site in the Gaza Strip in order to eliminate an imminent threat to Israel,” Israeli Army spokesman Peter Lerner said via Twitter.
Authorities in Gaza have yet to comment on the assertion.
Israeli forces also opened fire on Palestinian demonstrators near the border between the Gaza Strip and Israel, injuring one.
Israeli forces shot at Palestinian activists staging a demonstration east of Jabalia in the northern Gaza Strip, leaving one young man suffering a leg injury, Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qadra told Anadolu Agency.
The demonstration was part of weekly Friday rallies held to protest the Israeli occupation and continued Israeli violations against Palestinians.
The injured man was rushed to Kamal Adwan Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip, said al-Qadra.
Israel has established a 300-meter buffer zone along its border with the Gaza Strip, and Israeli forces frequently shoot at Palestinians who attempt to approach the border fence.
An Egypt-brokered ceasefire deal between Israel and Palestinian resistance faction Hamas, which governs the strip, calls for Israeli forces to withdraw from the buffer zone.
Meanwhile, the body of a Palestinian woman killed by Israeli forces was found near a border fence in southeastern Gaza Strip on Saturday.
Amna Attiyah Kadeh, 58, was shot dead early Saturday by Israeli forces after stepping into a no-go zone created by Israel on border with the Gaza Strip.
Her body was recovered Saturday by Palestinian medics in cooperation with the Red Cross.
Family members of the woman, a resident of Khan Younis in eastern Gaza Strip, have described her as “mentally-disturbed”.
