Govt helpless in recovering missing persons

Jamaat-e-Islami chief Munawar Hasan, PPP-Shaheed Bhutto head Ghinwa Bhutto and other political leaders on Tuesday visited the hunger strike camp established for recovery of missing Baloch persons outside Karachi Press Club.

The leaders expressed solidarity with the families protesting for early recovery of their loved ones.  JI chief Munwar Hasan met with Voice of Baloch Missing Persons chief Qadeer Baloch and Farzana Baloch, who led a long march from Quetta to Karachi Press Club last week for early recovery of missing Balochs.
Hasan, while talking to newsmen, said the chief justice of Pakistan, Ifthikar Chaudhry, had given the verdicts in the missing persons case through which faces of those involved in such illegal acts were unveiled. But, he added, the government and law-enforcement agencies had not yet fulfilled the court orders. The JI chief said the families of missing persons had written a courageous history by covering 750-kilometers, from Balochistan to Karachi, by foot. Hasan recalled that Nawaz Sharif had made tall claims before the May elections, but now that he was in power he had not taken any step on this count yet. He said those behind the disappearance of countless Balochs were against democracy and the people. He also asked PML-N workers and voters to launch a protests asking their leadership to recover missing Balochs.  Qadeer, the chief of VBMP thanked Munawar Hasan and Aamina Janjua for visiting the camp and expressing solidarity with the families of the missing persons.
He said the govt had failed to recover missing persons as the army and Frontier Constabulary had their own rule in Balochistan and they did not obey directives of the federal govt.  Speaking to the media, Aamina Janjua said the govt had yet to fulfill its promises while 320 more persons had disappeared in the past two months.
PPP-SB chairperson Ghanwa Bhutto, who also visited the camp, demanded early recovery of missing Baloch persons. She criticised the government for not implementing the orders of the Supreme Court.
Baloch Human Rights Organization chairperson BB Gul and VBMP head Qadeer Baloch and family members of missing persons in a press conference at Karachi Press Club said despite their 27-day long march, the state institutions and government had not realized the severity of the issue. They complained that disappearances of political workers were still going on. They said the PML-N govt in the Centre and NP’s government in Balochistan were helpless before intelligence agencies.
