Chabahar, Iran- Two members of the Basij militia have been killed in a suspected suicide attack in the south east of Iran on Friday, 19th Oct. 2012.
The local officials confirmed death of two Basij personnel in the attack in the costal city of Chabahar, south of Sistan-Baluchistan, Iran. The failed suicide onslaught wounded four passersby including a police officer.
The security assistant of the provincial governor, Rajab-Ali Shaikhzadeh, said that Morteza Asoudeh, a Sunni student and member of the militia and Hamed Bazzi, a Shiite member of the Basij forces lost their lives while tailing the suspected suicide bomber.
“Harkat-e-Ansar”, a newly-organized militant group has claimed to be behind the attack to avenge “mass execution” of Baluch citizens of Iran in different jails of the country. The group issued a statement on its web portal putting the attack a “car-bomb” that had targeted the Revolutionary Guards personnel’s meeting.
Different communities and religious figures of Sistan-Baluchistan have condemned Chabahar attack including the Sunni Scholars’ Community of Zahedan, the provincial capital of Sistan-Baluchistan. They urged on the vigilance and unity of all sects of Muslims.
