17 Sunni H school teachers banned from teaching

Sanandaj, Iran- Following pressure of some security circles, the Education Department of Iranian Kurdistan banned 17 senior Sunni teachers from teaching; most of them had been teaching in public high schools for more than a decade.

According to a local news website, Mukrian, the supervisors of education departments in Saqez, Baneh, Qarweh and Muchish dismissed the teachers degrading them to “executive assistance” for just office affairs. The local managers admitted that they had carried out the discriminative decision following a verbal notice.

According to one of the bereft teachers, they contacted the education department in their areas as well as the provincial head of the department; he accepted the decision reasoning that “Maktab-e-Qur’an” organization (A non-political organization of Sunnis in Kurdistan, Iran) is outlawed inside the “Islamic regime”!

The deprived teacher added that in the first reaction the provincial heads of the department denied the decision putting it “discriminative and belittling” for teachers. But a day before the new educational year, they confirmed the decision declaring it the order of security officials and the Ministry of Education.
