ZAHEDAN- The government must change the discriminative policies regarding Sunni citizens of Iran, it is more important and needed than developmental projects, khateeb of Ahl-us-Sunna said on Friday, 15 April in Zahedan, Iran.
Indicating towards the recent visit of Iran’s president Ahmadi nejad along with his cabinet to Sistan-Balochistan province, Shaikh-ul-Islam Maulana Abdul Hameed said, ‘Undoubtedly welfare is the need of masses, it is expected from any government to develop this field, but implementation of justice and equality is the most important duty of the rulers which strengthens national unification and solidarity.’
He added more that people including Ayatollah Khomeini who rose against Shah’s regime to enforce justice, it had come into being when the masses were suffering from injustice; rulers were not interested to listen the people’s voice, so that people belonging to all aspects of life brought a great revolution.
Talking to tens of thousands worshipers in the grand Makki masjid, the eminent Shaikh said more, ‘The residents of Sista-Balochistan belong to different backgrounds; though Balochs are the local, aboriginal and majority citizens but they have accepted other sects and races besides them. They were living side by side peacefully before the 1979’s revolution; there was not a single case of ethnic or sectarian disputes among the residents of this province.’
Shaikh continued saying that sectarian problems erupted after the revolution, Sunnis are not in favor of sectarian differences, but the root cause of such problems in the province is the discriminative behavior and wrong policies of the rulers over the Sunni citizens.
‘Balochs and Sunnis have been neglecting in all departments due to their sect, such policies are not in the interest of both Shias and Sunnis, rather than it is quietly in the interest of our enemies,’ he further said.
Khateeb of Sunnis called the responsible authorities to stop the wrong acts and discriminatory behavior regarding Sunni Muslims in all parts of Iran.
Mawlana Abdul Hameed emphasized that the government cannot overcome this hot issue, unless the main players of the politics’ field raise their voice against the wrong policies. They should convince the ‘hidden strong hands’ to destroy none of the national security and unity more.
He made it clear, ‘We have been advising all the presidents from the three decades of the new regime’s age; implementation of justice and equality is beneficial for every one in Iran.’
Shaikh Abdul Hameed pointed out that the Iranian rulers claim that they support and assert oppressed minorities around the world, we hope that they begin from their own minorities and ensure providing their rights. He urged that if Sunni citizens of Sistan-Balochistan and other areas get their rights, it would be good for both Sunnis and Shias in Iran and the problems would decrease.
