Afghanistan: Chief of police among 18 policemen killed in Kunduz

As many as 18 policemen including Abdurahman Sayed Kheli, chief of police of Kunduz were killed and scores of others more were wounded in Kunduz province of Afghanstan at Friday night, March 11.

Afghan Taliban claimed the responsibility of the suicide attack, a spokesman released a statement: “18 policemen including Abdurahman Sayed Kheli, chief of police of Kunduz were killed and scores of others more were wounded in martyrdom attack conducted by a brave of Mujahid of the Islamic Emirate.”
Reports said, adding that Anwar Jaldak, the governor of Kunduz and the Gen Dawood, general commander of zone were around but it is unclear whether they have killed or injured.
Meanwhile Taliban spokesmen claim, more than a dozen NATO-led soldiers have been killed in different provinces of Afghanistan in the latest spate of attacks against foreign troops in the country.
The clashes and blast took place in Helmand, Kandahar, Kunar and Balkh provinces mostly.
An initial statement released by ISAF on Saturday says one US-led soldier was killed by a roadside bomb and the other one lost his life in a separate incident in the volatile southern Afghanistan on Friday, a Press TV correspondent reported.
Some 150,000 NATO troops are currently fighting in war-torn Afghanistan, with plans to stay in the country beyond 2014.
Last year was the deadliest of the nearly decade-long war for international troops, with more than 700 killed, compared to just more than 500 in 2009. In January, 31 American and other NATO troops were killed.
