Suicide bombers kill 38 in southeast Iran

A suicide attack has killed at least 38 people and wounded more than 60 others near a mosque in the southeastern Iranian city of Chabahar as Shias marked the climax of Ashoura.

Majlis Deputy from Chabahar Mohammad Yaghoub Jedgal says terrorist operations outside Imam Hossein Mosque in southeastern Chabahar city has killed tens of people mourning on the martyrdom anniversary of  Hazrat Hossein Ibn Ali (AS).
One bomber was killed when he detonated a belt of explosives outside the Imam Hussein Mosque in the city of Chabahar near the border with Pakistan, news reports said, and two others were arrested after their explosives apparently failed to go off.
The bombing coincided with the mourning period leading up to Ashura, which commemorates the death of Imam Hussein, the grandson of Islam’s prophet Muhammad .
Chabahar is one of the largest cities in the province of Sistan-Baluchestan which has a largely ethnic Baluch population who are Sunni Moslems.
