At least 12 dead in targeted killings in Karachi

KARACHI: At least 12 people were killed by unknown assailants in Karachi in the past 24 hours, DawnNews reported. Gunmen shot and killed one man in Pak Colony’s Purana Golimar area. The victim, 40-year-old Mohammad Ejaz, was a resident of Orangi Town.

One man was gunned down in Lyari’s Nawaleen area. The victim, Mohammad Ali, was a resident of Lyari. Separately, on Saturday, another man was shot dead in Lyari.
Meanwhile, in the city’s Memon Goth area, unknown assailants shot and killed the area’s former union councillor Shoaib Baloch.
In Bhens Colony, unknown armed men gunned down one Mohammad Nasir.
One man was killed in Saudabad’s Malir area. The victim, Sher Baloch, was gunned down by unknown assailants.
Meanwhile, two men were gunned down on Karachi’s Tipu Sultan road late on Saturday. The men were in their car when they were shot at and were later taken to the Jinnah Hospital where they succumbed to their injuries. The victims’ names were Rajesh Kumar and Faisal.
Separately, in Khwaja Ajmer Nagri, one Rizwan Hussain was gunned down.
Meanwhile, in Mohammadi Colony, unknown armed men were forcing shopkeepers to shut down. The men fired shots which resulted in the death of one Abdul Aziz. Aziz was affiliated with a religious organisation.
Also on Saturday, two men were injured in a shooting in the city’s Defence area.
Meanwhile, a security guard, who had been injured during firing in the city’s New Town area earlier, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital.
