Drone attacks should be stopped if unauthorised: LHC

LAHORE: Hearing a petition regarding US drone attacks inside Pakistan’s tribal areas, the Lahore High Court said if the attacks were being carried out without government authorisation then the federal government should immediately take measures to stop them.

The petition, filed by Advocate Sardar Zaheer, had stated that drone attacks were an assault on the sovereignty of Pakistan and that several innocent people had died in these strikes.
The court, concluding the petition’s hearing, directed the government to take action to stop the attacks in case they were being carried out without the federal government’s authorisation.
