Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol-Hamid, speaking at the Friday prayer gathering in Zahedan on August 21, 2026, described the birth of the Prophet Muhammad \ufdfa as a \u201cbirth of light and mercy\u201d and \u201cAllah\u2019s special attention to humanity.\u201d He highlighted several aspects of the Prophet\u2019s practical life and urged all Muslims, particularly the rulers and officials of Islamic countries, to follow his example.
According to the Information Office of the Sunni Friday Prayer Leader of Zahedan, Mawlana Abdol-Hamid, referring to the beginning of the month of Rabi al-Awwal, said: \u201cThe birth of the Messenger of Allah \ufdfa is the birth of truth, light and mercy, and a sign of Allah\u2019s special and particular attention toward all the worlds. The birth of the Prophet \ufdfa was, in reality, the birth of a true and exemplary human being.\u201d
He continued: \u201cThe Prophet \ufdfa was born at a time and under circumstances when the world was engulfed in absolute darkness. Correct belief, proper conduct and sound morality were absent among human beings. Oppression, barbarism, crime, injustice, and ethnic, regional and racial conflicts and wars, which continued for years, had overwhelmed society and made life bitter for humanity. Women and orphans were deprived of their rights. A woman not only had no right to inheritance, but she herself could also be inherited as part of an estate. Knowledge of Allah and worship of the Lord were absent, while polytheism and idol worship had spread throughout the world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/strong>The Friday prayer leader of Zahedan said: \u201cWhen the Prophet \ufdfa witnessed the troubled condition of society and the world, he would become distressed and restless, wondering how these problems could be resolved. Because of the intensity of his distress, he would retreat to the Cave of Hira. It was there that an angel came from the Lord and said to him: \u2018Iqra\u2019\u2014meaning \u2018Read\u2019\u2014because the path to the salvation of society lies in acquiring sound knowledge, which a person gains through reading.\u201d
He added: \u201cThe beginning of the Qur\u2019an\u2019s revelation with the verses, \u2018Iqra bismi rabbika alladhi khalaq * Khalaqa al-insana min alaq * Iqra wa rabbuka al-akram * Alladhi allama bil-qalam,\u2019 means that the time had come for reading, writing, knowledge and learning. Allah Almighty tells the Prophet \ufdfa that the One who created the human being from a clinging clot and is the Possessor of generosity and grace is capable of conveying to humanity, through your tongue and heart, a vast ocean of knowledge and wisdom and everything the people of the world need, teaching them and guiding them. With the revelation of divine revelation, a connection was established between earth and heaven, and the Prophet\u2019s concern regarding the guidance of human society was relieved, because through revelation the darkness and misguidance of the Age of Ignorance could be removed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/strong>Mawlana Abdol-Hamid described the Prophet \ufdfa as \u201ca mercy to all the worlds\u201d and said: \u201cAllah Almighty addresses the Prophet \ufdfa and says: \u2018Wa ma arsalnaka illa rahmatan lil-alamin\u2019\u2014\u2018We have not sent you except as a mercy to all the worlds.\u2019 We do not find anywhere that Allah Almighty used the description \u2018a mercy to all the worlds\u2019 for any of the previous prophets. Perhaps this is because he \ufdfa is the final Prophet and his prophethood is for the entire human community until the Day of Judgment; he was sent for all humanity.\u201d
He added: \u201cThe Prophet \ufdfa came and preached faith, sound belief and proper morality. He came to free human beings from slavery and servitude to created beings and guide them toward the worship of the One God.
The greatest Prophet \ufdfa came into a world that had not known justice and fairness, and he brought freedom, dignity, justice, fairness, trut
hfulness, trustworthiness, maintaining family ties and noble character. He taught the world the lesson of freedom and truth so that people could live according to the path of truth and refrain from consuming unlawful wealth, shedding blood, and violating the property and lives of others.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/strong>The director of Darul Uloom Zahedan went on to describe aspects of the Prophet\u2019s practical life and said: \u201cThe Prophet \ufdfa lived simply. Like others, he sat on the ground and on mats, and he dressed like ordinary people.\u201d
He added: \u201cWith the Prophet\u2019s \ufdfa mission, the lives of the Companions changed. They felt as though they had been born anew and had begun a new life, one characterized by knowledge of Allah, awareness, truthfulness and realism. The Prophet\u2019s \ufdfa mission opened material and spiritual doors for human beings. The hungry people of the Arabian Peninsula became satisfied, and the wild people of the Arabian Peninsula became true human beings. In the words of Allama Iqbal, may Allah have mercy on him: \u2018The highway robbers became leaders under his protection.\u2019\u201d
In the light of the Prophet\u2019s \ufdfa teachings, the Companions became just rulers who served humanity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/strong>The Friday prayer leader of Zahedan expressed his regret and said: \u201cIt is unfortunate that the world does not appreciate the great treasure of the Prophet \ufdfa and the religion of Islam. Perhaps the conduct of many Muslims today is partly responsible for this. Today, many Muslims claim to follow Islam, but unfortunately, this claim is devoid of reality, and the morality and way of life of the Prophet \ufdfa, the Companions and the Ahl al-Bayt are rarely reflected in their lives.\u201d
He said: \u201cWe must all examine how much justice, fairness and compassion exist in our lives as Muslims and how closely our lives resemble the life of the Prophet \ufdfa. He \ufdfa showed mercy even toward enemies who had killed and tortured many Muslims in various battles and wars, as well as before the Hijrah. At the conquest of Makkah, the Prophet \ufdfa declared a general amnesty and said: \u2018Al-yawm yawm al-marhamah\u2019\u2014\u2018Today is the day of mercy and forgiveness.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/strong>Mawlana Abdol-Hamid said: \u201cThe people of the Arabian Peninsula and people in other parts of the world were influenced by the mercy and compassion of the Prophet \ufdfa. Islam did not spread throughout the world through the force of the sword, but through morality and compassion. The world cannot be conquered with bombs, missiles and nuclear weapons; it is won through morality, truthfulness, sincerity and the implementation of justice.\u201d
He added: \u201cEven today, the world can be won through the morals and conduct of the Prophet \ufdfa and the Companions. The Qur\u2019an praises the Companions for their self-sacrifice: they fed the hungry while they themselves invoked the name of Allah and went to sleep hungry.\u201d
The Friday prayer leader of Zahedan concluded this part of his remarks by urging all Muslims, particularly officials, to follow the life and example of the Prophet \ufdfa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/strong>Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol-Hamid, in another part of his Friday prayer address in Zahedan, said: \u201cAt a time when the enemies have concluded that instead of war and bombing, they can create even harsher conditions for the people of Iran by tightening the blockade and paralyzing the economy, officials must think about the livelihood and lives of the people.\u201d
He added: \u201cThe Iranian people are truly facing extremely difficult and exceptional economic conditions, and no one is able to meet the expenses of their family. People\u2019s purchasing power has declined sharply, and shops and stores have no customers. Under these circumstances, all the attention, thought and planning of officials should be focused on addressing the people\u2019s livelihood and economic problems, and all resources should be spent on the people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/strong>The Friday prayer leader of Zahedan stressed the need to \u201ccombat corruption\u201d and said: \u201cUnfortunately, financial corruption has spread throughout our country, and financial corruption is the source of many other forms of corruption. Corruption must be confronted. Unless extremists are restrained and financial corruption is fought, even the limited resources and capital that exist will not reach the people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/strong>Mawlana Abdol-Hamid, in another part of his remarks, described linking the recent wave of kidnappings and hostage-taking to drugs as an \u201cincorrect assessment\u201d and said: \u201cOne official has said that most of the kidnappings and hostage-taking incidents occurring these days are related to drugs. In my view, this is not a correct assessment. His statement may have been true regarding the past, but these days most hostage-taking incidents are carried out for ransom, and only a very small number may be related to drugs.\u201d
He added: \u201cOur fear is that such statements may cause officials to feel no responsibility, because in the past, reports sent to the central authorities created the impression that the source of these hostage-taking incidents was drugs, whereas this is not the case. Merchants, shopkeepers and innocent people are being taken hostage.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/strong>The Friday prayer leader of Zahedan identified \u201cthe failure to properly enforce the law\u201d as the reason for the increase in murder, theft and highway robbery, saying: \u201cThe reason theft, highway robbery, hostage-taking and unjustified killings have increased in society these days is that the law is not properly enforced.\u201d
He stressed: \u201cIf the law is enforced as it should be, the security of society will not be disrupted. But when the law is not properly and fairly enforced, bribery and abuse take place, and a highway robber, kidnapper or murderer pays a bribe to save himself, or favoritism occurs, and the murderer or kidnapper hopes for the intervention of tribal elders or religious scholars, all of these things contribute to problems in society.\u201d
\u201cUnjust Killing\u201d Has No Justification: Scholars and Elders Should Not Intervene in Unjustifiable Murders<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added: \u201cMy request to scholars, elders, all people and tribes is that they should not intercede or make recommendations in cases of killings that have no justification. Whoever has killed a person will be killed. However, because Allah Almighty has provided relief and ease and has allowed the heirs of the victim to forgive or accept blood money, we do not close this avenue. Allah Almighty says: \u2018Wa lakum fi al-qisasi hayatun ya uli al-albab\u2019\u2014\u2018O people of understanding! There is life for you in retribution.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/strong>The Friday prayer leader of Zahedan continued: \u201cWhen a kidnapper is arrested, no one should intercede on his behalf, because kidnappers are traitors. Allah Almighty says to His Prophet: \u2018Wa la takun lil-kha\u2019inina khasima\u2019\u2014\u2018Do not be an advocate for the treacherous.\u2019\u201d
He further stated that many hostages are being released and stressed the need for all hostages to be freed. He said: \u201cTaking people hostage for ransom, as well as imprisoning people over debts, is religiously forbidden and unlawful and is also prohibited by law. Therefore, this ugly phenomenon of hostage-taking must come to an end. If someone has an issue involving a loan, debt or any other problem, it should be pursued and resolved through Sharia, the law and mediation by respected elders.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/strong>Mawlana Abdol-Hamid stressed the need to \u201cpreserve the dignity of all ethnic groups and tribes\u201d and said: \u201cAll ethnic groups have been affected and victimized by the recent hostage-taking incidents and problems. Therefore, no particular ethnic group should be blamed and the names of specific ethnicities should not be mentioned. There may be corrupt individuals within any ethnic group, but this does not mean that the entire group should be blamed or condemned. Rather, the dignity of all ethnic groups and tribes must be respected, and only the thief, highway robber or kidnapper should be held accountable, regardless of his ethnicity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/strong>The Friday prayer leader of Zahedan emphasized: \u201cAll ethnic groups, tribes and religious communities in the province must unite so that the problem of hostage-taking, extortion and theft, which has disrupted the security of society, can be eliminated. As we have seen in recent days, a large number of people from different ethnic groups and social sectors came to Darululoom Zahedan and expressed their support for this cause.\u201d
He added: \u201cScholars from the province and across the country, as well as some scholars from abroad, have regarded the positions expressed regarding the fight against hostage-taking as justified and have supported these statements: that the security and rights of the people must be defended and that the people\u2019s voices must be heard. I thank all these dear individuals and pray for their well-being. I ask those who intend to come to the seminary next week not to trouble themselves.
