Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol-Hamid, speaking at the Friday prayers gathering in Zahedan on April 24, 2026, described obedience to Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him) as the pivotal axis for the happiness and success of Muslims in both this world and the hereafter. He urged all Muslims to adhere to divine laws under all circumstances.
Responding to the commands of Allah and His Messenger is the principle of bliss in both worlds
According to the report from the office of the Friday preacher of Sunnis in Zahedan, Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol-Hamid recited the verse: “O you who have believed, respond to Allah and to the Messenger when He calls you to that which gives you life. And know that Allah intervenes between a man and his heart and that to Him you will be gathered” (Al-Anfal: 24).
He stated that the true way to achieve happiness is to not ignore the call of Allah and His Messenger, but to obey it with all our heart and soul.
The Obedience of the Companions Was the Cause of Their Victory in the Battle of Badr
Mentioning the Battle of Badr, the Friday preacher of Sunnis said: “That was an unbalanced war and a big test for Muslims. On one side, Muslims lacked resources and war equipment, while on the other, the polytheists were fully equipped. There were 1,000 polytheists compared to only 313 Muslims.”
He noted that while the hypocrites thought the Muslims would not survive, the Muslims did not deviate even slightly from the Prophet’s (PBUH) command and expressed their readiness to sacrifice their lives. Allah was pleased with this obedience, and a small group triumphed over a larger one. Seventy polytheists, including Abu Jahl, were killed and seventy were taken as captives and prisoners. The Companions serve as our role models who achieved success through obedience.
The Disobedience of a Group of Companions Changed the Landscape of the Battle of Uhud
Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol-Hamid continued by discussing the setback in the Battle of Uhud. He said: “A year after Badr, the people of Makkah came for revenge. During the battle, the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) stationed fifty Companions on a hill and emphasized that whether in victory or defeat, they must not leave that spot. When the polytheists began to flee, forty of the fifty archers left the hill, assuming that the battle had been over. A unit of polytheists led by Khalid bin Walid attacked that hill, and changed the course of the battle.”
He noted that this incident demonstrates the massive loss that can result from disobeying a single order. The polytheists, who had fled, returned and attacked the Muslims from both sides. Seventy Muslims were martyred, including the Prophet’s uncle, Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him), one of the senior Companions. The Prophet (PBUH) himself was injured and lost consciousness.
The prominent scholar stated: “When this occurred, some Muslims asked why they were defeated. Allah Almighty declared that you lost due to your own disobedience and actions. The secret of victory at Badr was obedience, and the secret of the setback and defeat at Uhud was disobedience.”
Disobedience and Sin Lead to Defeat, While Obedience to Allah and His Messenger Leads to Glory
Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol-Hamid expressed: “Allah Almighty taught Muslims and the world that disobedience and sin cause failure, whereas obedience to Allah and His Messenger is the source of exaltation and bliss. Today, Muslims worldwide are fragmented, lack unity, and face failure; these pressures and conflicts exist because we have distanced ourselves from Allah, His Messenger, the Quran, and the life of the prophet Mohammad (PBUH). If we follow the commands of Allah and the Messenger, we will be successful in the both worlds.”
Respect the Rights of Women and non-Muslims and Treat Them with Kindness
Emphasizing the rights of women and non-Muslims, Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol-Hamid stated: “During the Farewell Pilgrimage (Hajjat-ul-Wida’) in the plain of Arafat, the Prophet (peace be upon him) urged the Companions and Muslims to respect the rights of women and non-Muslim citizens (Dhimmis). A woman possesses honor and dignity. The rights of women must be upheld, and their dowry and inheritance must be given to them. Accept the counsel of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) regarding the rights of women and non-Muslims.”
“Allah Almighty has commanded that we live in peace with those non-Muslims who are not at war with Muslims and are not aggressors. We should treat them with kindness, act with justice and equity, and respect their rights,” he further added.
There is Freedom in Islam; No One Has the Right to Force Others to Embrace Islam
The Friday preacher of Zahedan said: “The Quran places great emphasis on respecting human rights. There is freedom in Islam. The acceptance of Islam is voluntary, and no one has the right to compel others to embrace it. The Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) did not forbid non-Muslims from things they considered permissible in their own religion. In the early days of Islam, no one attacked the worship places of non-Muslims. The Prophet (PBUH) made peace agreement with the polytheists of Mecca and did not interfere with the polytheists in Medina. Yes, those who take up arms and wage war against Muslims were confronted.”
Inheritance is Very Important; Distribute it Correctly
Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol-Hamid added: “Inheritance is of great importance; calculate it accurately and distribute it among the heirs. Give orphans, widows, daughters, and sons their rightful share. In Islamic Shari’a, the most important issue after the burial of the deceased is the distribution of their assets.”
If Muslims Respect Divine Rights, the World will Welcome Islam
The Friday preacher of Zahedan concluded his sermon by saying: “If human rights are fulfilled as commanded by the religion of Islam, the people of the world will welcome this faith. However, if there is only an Islamic name without adherence to its principles, people will flee from this religion. Islam is a trust (Amanah) from Allah and His Messenger with us; may Allah grant that Muslims become good trustees and preserve the religion as it is. Religion should not be for name only; what matters is that we practice it.”
“What is essential for us and brings happiness is obedience and piety; meaning we should not commit wrongs, trouble others, or violate rights. We must recognize the rights of women, orphans, and the vulnerable, and respect the rights of business partners, life partners, colleagues, and subordinates. We must uphold the rights and dignity of those entitled to them,” he emphasized.
