Islam Spread in the World Through Morality and Justice, not Violence and War

Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol-Hamid, during the Friday prayer gathering in Zahedan on April 17, 2026, pointed out the emphasis of Islam on morality, justice, and correct action, clarifying that all scholars, historians, thinkers, and researchers admit that the religion of Islam did not spread in the world through the force of sword, violence, war, or killing people. Instead, it was morality, correct character, justice, and piety that impressed the people of the world, leading to the rapid spread of Islam.

The Value of Every Human Life Lies in Humanity, Morality, and Justice
According to the report from the office of the Friday Imam of Sunnis in Zahedan, Mawlana Abdol-Hamid, after reciting Verse 90 of Surah An-Nahl, expressed that life is a supreme opportunity as well as a test. The philosophy of human existence and creation is participation in a great opportunity and trial. Allah Almighty created all humans to test how they behave. In the sight of Allah, words and claims are not valid; only actions carry weight.
He further added: The invitation of all prophets and heavenly religions was for humanity. If a person exists but humanity is absent, and there is no morality or action, then that person is a failure in life, even if they are endowed with all facilities and wealth, possess power and authority, and conquer countries. Humanity and the pleasure of Allah lie in morality, justice, truthfulness, and integrity; but if these things are missing, then a person’s life is worthless and ruined.

Governments and All Humans are the Addressees of Justice
The Friday Imam of Zahedan further said: Governments and rulers are not the only addressees of the Quran regarding justice and truthfulness; rather, every human, whether man or woman, old or young, is an addressee. Human beings were created to spread humanity, faith, correct belief, a connection with the Almighty Allah, and good character in society.
He added: Allah Almighty has commanded humans to practice justice and integrity for themselves and others. A person must observe due rights and justice, even if it is to their own detriment and for the benefit of others. Justice, morality, and truth are the commands of Allah, the real Lord. You should remain truthful with God and God’s servants in your belief, word, and deed, and be just with Muslims, non-Muslims, and all human beings.

Justice Brings Reputation, While Oppression and Corruption Cause the Disgrace of People and Nations
Mawlana Abdol-Hamid continued his discourse, saying: The progress and good reputation of every human lie in humanity, truthfulness, and beautiful morality. Throughout history, virtuous people have always tried to leave a good name behind so that after their death, others do not say that such a person was oppressive, unjust, or ill-mannered. In the prayers of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) mentioned in the Holy Quran, it is said: “Grant me a mention of honor among later generations.” Prophet Ibrahim’s correct path and the nature of his relationship with Allah and the people became the reason why he is remembered with goodness today, and all humans take pride in being associated with him. Justice leaves a good name and reputation for a person in this world and the hereafter.

Islam Spread in the World Through Morality and Justice
He further added: All scholars, historians, thinkers, and researchers admit that the religion of Islam spread in the world not through the sword and violence, but through morality, correct action, justice, and piety. The shadow of Islamic justice was so vast that it made no distinction between a ruler, commander, judge, governor, Caliph of the Muslims, or Commander of the Faithful; all were equal before the justice of Islam. There was no deception or hypocrisy, and sincere politics reigned.

Oppression, Corruption, and Lies Damage Religion and Cause Disgrace
The Friday Imam of Zahedan’s Sunnis further said: At a time when the world was in ignorance and darkness, the religion of Islam brought knowledge, light, science, and humanity. With these attributes, it succeeded in influencing nations and inviting them toward monotheism, faith, correct belief, and proper morality.
He added: Today, if someone wants to serve the religion of Islam, the path to that is through morality, justice, and truthfulness. Extortion, kidnapping for ransom, bribery, bloodshed, robbery, financial corruption, and lying not only fail to bring a reputation or progress to an individual, nation, or religion, but they also damage the religion and cause the disgrace of religions, nations, societies, and individuals.

State and Ruling May Survive with Disbelief, but They Cannot Survive with Injustice
Mawlana Abdol-Hamid clarified that governments established in the name of Islam must act in accordance with Islam to facilitate the growth of religion. “A kingdom can endure with disbelief, but it cannot endure with injustice”; a government that rules in the name of Islam but practices oppression will not remain stable.
He stated that our collective well-being lies in following the beautiful example (Uswah Hasanah) of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). No human is free from error, but the right path is to admit mistakes and strive for reform.

Diplomacy Should Not Be Influenced by Extremists
Mawlana Abdol-Hamid emphasized the need for the country’s diplomatic system to strive toward ending the war, stating that diplomacy should not fear extremists. In these difficult circumstances, strong and empowered diplomacy is necessary to prevent the continuation of war. There is a need for a serious diagnosis of internal and external policies and problems.
He added: The key point is that everyone must look at the country’s internal and foreign issues and identify their roots. It must be determined whether the cause of these problems lies with the people or the state. Policies that have failed must be changed.

Iran Needs Strong and Empowered Diplomacy
The prominent scholar criticized the failure of the country’s diplomatic system in preventing the war, saying: Before the war began, appeals were made repeatedly to stop it, as war brings loss of life and property; unfortunately, the diplomatic system failed to stop it. Iran needs diplomacy that possesses full authority to eliminate challenges so that the continuation of war and tension can be halted.

Extremism Damages Every Society
Mawlana Abdol-Hamid further added: Extremism harms every nation; diplomacy should not be influenced by extremists but should adopt the right path that serves the interests of the Iranian nation and the world. The Middle East region needs peace and tranquility. Islam is a religion of peace; during the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, the Prophet accepted the harsh conditions of the opponents to prevent bloodshed, and this peace ultimately proved beneficial for the Muslims.

We Are Never Pleased with the Killing of People or the Destruction of the Country
The Friday Imam and orator of Zahedan criticized those who interpreted his silence as consent to the war.
He said: We seek peace and dialogue in the country and oppose war. We are not happy with the killing of any human being, including those who served this country. We say listen to the people; the people want justice and freedom.

Death Penalty and Seizure of Opponents’ Properties Cause the Anger of Allah and the People
Mawlana Abdol-Hamid criticized the death penalty and the confiscation of opponents’ properties, stating that the death penalty is harmful to the government and the ruler, and the seizure of properties angers both Allah and the people.

Learn Lessons from Events and Walk the Path of Gaining the Pleasure of Allah and the People
The prominent Islamic scholar of Iran concluded his points by emphasizing that he advises everyone toward leniency and compassion, as the religion of Islam spread through kindness and truth. Our country has suffered immense loss of life and property in this war; therefore, we must learn lessons from these events, listen to one another, and choose the path that ensures the satisfaction of Allah and the people.
