Mawlana Faqir Muhammad Nohtani, head of Darululoom Zahedan’s Alumni Office, passed away after a sudden illness in Zahedan on Saturday 1st July 2023. He was 52.
Mawlana Nohtani was born in the suburban village of Zahedan’s Cheshmeh Zeyarat in 1971. He completed his Islamic education at Darululoom Zahedan, the biggest Islamic seminary of the Sunni community of Iran, in 1993.
Mawlana Faqir Muhammad was the former director of the “Siddiqui Publisher”, affiliated to Darululoom Zahedan for 20 years, as he published dozens of Islamic books in Persian. He was working as a teacher in the second time classes of Darululoom Zahedan. For some months, he was the Friday Khateeb of al-Khalil Grand Mosque of Zahedan. This Baloch prominent Sunni preacher had many scientific and preaching trips all over the country.
Shaikh Abdol-Hamid, the most influential Iranian Sunni leader and the president of Darululoom Zahedan, led his funeral prayers in the Grand Makki Mosque of Zahedan. Thousands of people from different strata attended in his funeral ceremony. The dead body of Shaikh Nohtani was transformed and buried in Zahedan’s suburban village\Cheshmeh Zeyarat, where he was born.
Shaikh Abdol-Hamid called the late Nohtani as a sincere, active, and a compassionate personality before offering the funeral prayers, and said: “We lost a very compassionate colleague who worked hard and served the community with enthusiasm and love.”
Scholars from different cities of Iran expressed their condolences with the family of Shaikh Nohtani over this shocking event. May Allah grant him peace and paradise.
