Baloch Sunni Scholar Passes away in Detention Cell of IRGC

Mawlavi Mousa Rahimi, one of the Baloch Sunni scholars of Hormozgan province, passed away due to unknown reasons in the detention cell of the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Bandar Abbas on July 24, 2022.
The official website of the Iranian Sunnis, Sunni Online, learnt that the late scholar was detained by the intelligence forces about two months ago from his hometown in Sirik.
On the day of the death of Mawlawi Rahimi, the intelligence officials informed his brother that the deceased was in critical situation. When he went to Bandar Abbas to meet him, the officials told him that he had died.
Mawlawi Rahimi was an alumnus of Ain-ul-Uloom Gosht, Saravan in the province of Sistan-Balochistan.
Many Islamic Sunni scholars including Mawlana Abdol-Hamid, president of Darululoom Zahedan, and Hasan Amini, a prominent scholar from Kurdistan reacted to the incident and called for investigation and clarifying the causes of the death of Shaikh Rahimi.
“The death of one of the Sunni scholars in the detention center of the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran in Bandar Abbas, who was a native of Sirik County, caused us grief, and sorrow,” said Mawlana Abdol-Hamid of Zahedan.
He continued: “The passing of this prominent and noble scholar in the detention center of the IOIRGC has caused a great concern to the scholars and people of the region. We expect the relevant officials to begin a widespread inquiry in this regard, investigate, disambiguate and clarify the issue and announce the result.”
The council of Sunni seminaries of the southern provinces of Iran also issued a statement and called on full investigation over the death of Shaikh Mousa Rahimi.
