The First Ten Days of Dhul-Hijjah, an Exceptional Opportunity for all Muslims

Shaikh Abdol-Hamid of Zahedan, Iran considered the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah as an “exceptional opportunity” for all Muslims around the world and insisted on the necessity of taking advantages of these days.
He was talking to thousands of worshippers before the Friday prayers on July 24, 2020.

Shaikh Abdol-Hamid stated: “The opinion of the most commentators of the Holy Qur’an is that the meaning of “Layal al-Ashar” in the chapter “al-Fajr” is the first ten nights of Dhul-Hijjah.”

Friday Khateeb of Sunnis in Zahedan continued: “In this chapter, Allah has sworn by the first ten nights of Dhul-Hijjah and the day of Eid which are the days of Hajj”.

“Allah the Almighty has made these days as an exceptional opportunity not only for the pilgrims, but also for all those who follow the right path of Allah and follow the path of the righteous believers and the path of those who want to achieve happiness in this world and in the Hereafter”, president of Darululoom Zahedan said.

He continued: “The reward of worship in these ten days is more than Jihad in the way of Allah. Fasting also has a big reward in these days, which is not achieved on other days. The reward of fasting on the day of ‘Arafah equals to the reward of fasting two years. These are the days of reciting of the Holy Qur’an, remembrance, prayer, almsgiving, charity and saying Takbeer. Men and women should recite Takbeer at-Tashreeq after every obligatory prayer from the morning of ninth Dhul-Hijjah for five days.”

Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol-Hamid pointed out: “In these days, we should take care of the poor, orphans, imprisoned families and needy people; give new cloths to those who need and distribute food and meat to those who have nothing on Eid day”.

“Allah is giving special virtue to His servants for Eid’s rituals. We thank Allah for such blessings. Allah the Almighty says: “It is not their flesh or blood that reaches Allah; rather, it is your piety that reaches Him; The piety and the intention of obedience and the pleasure of Allah that you will, reach Him; You have carried out the command of Allah and followed the Sunnah of the prophet Ibrahim and the Holy Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon them”, he added more.

We have missed Hajj due to our acts
Shaikh Abdol-Hamid continued his speech by pointing out to the limitation of this year’s Hajj due to the spread of the COVID19 and said: “This year’s Hajj ceremony has faced problems and restrictions due to the Coronavirus. Many of the pilgrims who were now to be around the Ka’bah have missed Hajj. This caused to a great concern to the Islamic world. Today, Arafat, Mina, Muzdalifah, Mataf, Masjid al-Haram and Masjid an-Nabi are empty”.

“The point is that we have missed Hajj due to our acts. Coronavirus is a plague that Allah manages and sends it to His servants, but according to the Holy Qur’an, the cause of this virus and all disasters is the result of human beings acts. The cause of all plagues and calamities is disobedience, negligence and sins that human beings commit”, prominent scholar of the Sunnis in Iran further said.

He added: “When we consider the COVID19 as the result of our sins and we repent, Allah removes this plague”.

“Allah the Almighty can prevent Coronavirus, earthquake, flood, drought and other pests and disasters if He wants, but Allah wants to inform the servants that the cure for COVID 19 and other calamities is to return to Him”, Imam of the Grand Makki Mosque of Zahedan said.

Shaikh Abdol-Hamid pointed out: “Allah’s pure servants have always begged, supplicated and turned to Allah; They gave alms and repented when they faced such disasters; this is the Sunnah of the prophets and it’s according to the teachings of the Holy Qur’an. If we consider the Coronavirus the result of our sins and repent, Allah will solve this problem”.

To get rid of all pests and calamities, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid forbade people from committing sins and said: “People should avoid sins such as lies, immorality, murder, robbery, adultery, corruption, drinking alcohol and etc. The way to get rid of all pests and problems is to fulfill our duty of doing the good and forbidding the evil. We should change this critical situation by obeying Allah’s commands. In the current situation, we should reconsider our deeds and believe that the Coronavirus is a dangerous plague”.

Shaikh added: “Coronavirus has closed schools and universities, damaged science, economy and health; it caused to the death of thousands of our outstanding personalities”.

“If it continues, then who can take it away from us?” he questioned.

At the end of his speech, Mawlana Abdol-Hamid advised the worshipers to attend the Eid prayers realizing the health protocols, using face mask, avoiding from making crowd while entering or exiting from the Musalla.
He also forbade people from meeting each other on Eid days as the local tradition and depend on the cell phone and internet.
