Illegal Firings Made People Worried

Why some citizens in Sistan & Balochistan province of Iran load fuel and petroleum products and smuggle them? What are the anxieties of the authorities and fuel-loaders? How the incidents of road accidents and opening fire on common people can be controlled? SunniOnline, official website of the Sunni community in Iran located in Zahedan, capital of Sistan-Balochistan, has tried to know the views of Shaikh Abdol-Hamid about the above-mentioned questions.
He said: “Unemployment, hunger and poverty rage in the region. There is no job for people like factories, workshops and farming. Economic sanctions have intensified people’s problems. Thus many of people sell and buy petroleum products.”
In answer to another question, president of Darululoom Zahedan said: “We understand authorities’ worries as some drivers hide their plate numbers. But youth have no job and they are compelled. The fuel-loaders think that security personnel follow them and open fire on them, so they hide their plate numbers and drive so fast.”
“We think people’s economic problems have changed to a crisis and there should be an especial room to manage the crisis. The society is under harsh pressure and the officials should find solutions. The long borders of this province are opportunities which should be activated for trades,” he added more.
Khateeb of Sunni said: “Killings and opening fire on people are more dangerous than road accidents. Such firings become tools in the hands of our enemies to provoke people and create anarchy in the region. Highways in the province are not two-way roads and we see fatalities on roads day and night.”
He expressed his worries about illegal shootings and firings by security forces in Sistan & Balochistan and said: “Illegal firings have made us and the people of Sistan-Balochistan worried. In an incident took place on Keshavarz road of Zahedan a young, driving a vehicle, was shot dead because he had no driving license and after running away, security forces opened fire on him and killed him. However, he had no illegal goods or any weapons in his vehicle when security forces were behind him.”
“I think firing on drivers is against law and peace. If the forces have no option but firing, then they should target tires not drivers. None of security forces is authorized to open fire on any vehicle because of petroleum products. People just want to win any bread and earn something for their families. I have talked with the governor in this regard and he told me that he had not banned on loading fuel, but they were worried about road accidents,” Maulana Abdol-Hamid further said.
He underlined: “We recommend the security council to ban firing on roads as one of the previous governors did. Some officials asked the maximum punishment for those who trade fuels. They want to destabilize peace of the province and the region by their own hands. Although most of the forces are sympathetic, but there are some personnel who want personal reckoning. Such people sabotage peace in the province. If any security man opens fire on people, he should be detained and tried, then other forces will avoid such mistakes.”
At the end of his interview, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid informed that the culprit behind the latest incident took place in Zahedan has been detained.
