Shaikh Abdol-Hamid has denounced strongly blasphemous words of a Shia Zakir/eulogizer about the Guided Caliphs and Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Ayishah, in a live TV program.
Issuing a statement, the most influential Iranian Sunni leader urged on “eradication of such insults and blasphemies about Islamic sanctities”.
He said that insulting against the dignity of the best human beings after prophets had hurt feelings of all.
“Unfortunately it is not the first time that some eulogizers, actors, teachers at universities and seminaries, artists, sportsmen and even officials trample the dignity of Sunnis’ sanctities which are the sanctities of the majority of Muslims. They hit the roots of Muslims’ unity,” Maulana Abdol-Hamid said.
He pointed out to violation of the verdicts issued by the supreme leader and other Shia Ulama by extremists and recommended officials to criminalize the act of insulting against Sunnis’ sanctities.
President of Darululoom Zahedan said: “Determining punishment for insulters will control this process to a big scale.”
He welcomed the steps taken by the state TV against the manager of the channel 5 and staff of the channel, reaction of the Sunni MPs and impeaching the insulter Zakir by the judiciary.
Shaikh Abdol-Hamid concluded his statement by saying: “I condemn this sectarian divisive act and I want the state TV and radio and other offices to be vigilant over infiltration of extremists who are examples of “English Shia”. Do not allow such irreverent and fanatic elements to manipulate our national and religious harmony.”
