Iranshahr: People furious on “Rape Incidents” in City

Hours after the Eid speech of Iranshahr’s grand Friday imam, Iranians in social media showed their anger and asked for immediate investigation and trial of the culprits.
Molawi Mohammad Tayyeb Mullazahi, a key scholar in Iranshahr city of Iranian Baluchistan has informed the audience on Eid day that 41 women had been kidnapped and raped by a gang in Iranshahr. He called on the city governor and security officials to arrest members of the gang and try them as soon as possible.
The news spread across the country like the wildfire. The general prosecutor and interior minister reacted to the claim asking provincial governor and judicial authorities to investigate into the case.
Later on, provincial judiciary officers announced detention of two members of the gang and a facilitator of them who provided them guns.
However the judiciary authorities denied the number of rape incidents, but they accept the news generally.
Meanwhile, the general prosecutor warned Molawi Tayyeb on publicizing the news. The authorities told media that he may be charged with “disturbing public opinion”. The judiciary statement was criticized by the top Iranian Sunni scholars.

Insecurity dared ill-minded to rape innocent women
In an interview with “SunniOnline”, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid termed the long-term insecurity of Iranshahr a reason behind the mass rape cases.
He told us: “Iranshahr has been suffering from insecurity for many years. This insecurity is unprecedented. Despite demands by different public figures and MPs, the management of the city could not control it and made the town safe.”
“When people’s wealth and souls are not secured, their dignity also will be unsafe. When sinister people see themselves free of any persecution, punishment and law, they will commit any kind of crimes,” Friday imam of Zahedan said.
He asked the pertinent authorities to review in the ongoing “incompetent” management of the city and change members of the security council of Iranshahr County.
The most influential Iranian Sunni leader said: “There should be a firm decision by the officials to bring peace back to the city. People are requested to calm down and city’s Ulama should carry out their duties by legal channels.”
In a talk with ILNA news agency, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid called on the victims to file their complaints without any hesitation and no one should tease the victims.
“People are asking us about the case and their honor and feelings have been targeted; so the judiciary should follow the case and inform masses,” he concluded his talk with SunniOnline.
