Fasting Beautifies Mankind with “Piety” and “Obedience”

Shaikh Abdol-Hamid alluded to the influences of fast/sawm in purification of mankind in his Friday sermon of May 25, 2018. He counted piety, obedience, sympathy and avoiding from misdeeds among the fruits of the worship of fast.
The official website of Shaikh Abdol-Hamid publishes the speech of the Friday imam of Sunnis in Zahedan. He began his speech by the Qur’anic verse: «يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الصِّيَامُ كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ» and shed light on the importance of piety, the philosophy of fasting.
He said: “As there is a spirit of lasciviousness within every human being and it excites people to commit sins and revolt, the All-Wise who knows well our weaknesses and the ways to get rid of them. Thus He made some obligatory rituals to create and develop the trait of submission and obedience. A submissive slave of Allah avoids sins and carries out His commands.”
“Fast has been obligatory for making human beings submissive and uproots their rebellion and waywardness. A submissive person does not dispute and avoids from demurring in acting upon Shari’ah commands. A real pious person always obeys the Almighty,” Shaikh added more.
President of Darululoom Zahedan further said: “When a person observes fast with faith and the aim to get rewards, s/he will receive two big profits; in this holy month the person protects his/her body from sins and endures difficulty which is a pleasure in Ramadan. Secondly, Satans become disabled before the fasting man.”
“When it is said Satans are seized during Ramadan, it means they cannot influence on fasting men and women. Disability of Satan is the result of fast. Hunger and thirst which are fruits of fast defeat the spirit of lasciviousness. The self and Satan are two big enemies of mankind and their defeat is possible by observation of fast,” he added more.
Shaikh Abdol-Hamid went on to say more: “Ramadan is the month of sympathy and commiseration with poor and needy people. Pay your Zakah and donations. Give more donations in Ramadan and support needy sick people, families of prisoners, orphans and madrassahs.”
“If a person does not pay Zakah money or shows laziness in offering prayers, s/he is still caught in rebellion and waywardness. Such people will be deprived of Ramadan’s good fruits,” he underlined.
At the end of his speech, Mawlana Abdol-Hamid urged: “We all should be vigilant; religious and social vigilance is important. We should be aware of our duties before Allah and society. Get preparation to meet Allah. Youth, free times, health, wealth and Ramadan are potentials to be used in this world; otherwise we will regret on the Judgment day.”
