Iran's Sunnis

Every Muslim Free to Act According to his Fiqh

The most influential Iranian Sunni leader said in his speech in the final meeting of the 23rd convocation of the Islamic Fiqh Academy of Iranian Sunnis that everyone should be abided with his juridical school of thought which is in accordance with the necessity of piety.
The official website of Shaikh Abdol-Hamid reported, he addressed Ulama and Muftis of different provinces and urged on unity. He said: “We should live together in a way that if any of Shias or Sunnis faces threats, we defend them.”
“The tenets of people have nothing to do with their rights; we believe whoever lives in Iran including Muslims, Jews, Christians and followers of other religions should not be objected and their rights should not be violated,” president of Darululoom Zahedan said.
He pointed out: “However the Iranian Sunnis have some objects and they present solutions, too, but politically they are followers of Islamic Republic of Iran.”
Chairman of the Islamic Fiqh Academy of Iranian Sunnis alluded to the juridical differences of Muslim sects and said: “Both Shias and Sunnis live in Iran; they have many common points and tenets, but in the same time they have some differences, too. The juridical issues should not common and all should freely act on their own schools of thought.”
“If Ulama condone any command or hide it, people will face problems; because people consider Ulama as their representatives and trustees of Shari’ah,” Shaikh Abdol-Hamid underlined.

He termed “distance between people and the religion” the biggest problem and said: “The biggest anxiety of our society is the distance of people from Islam. Even some family members of Ulama miss the prayers.
“All calamities and earthquakes are the fruits of our deeds. Allah shakes us to awaken us. We should be vigilant and repent to Allah Almighty,” president of Darululoom Zahedan urged.
At the end of his speech in the meeting of Ulama, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid advised religious scholars and principals of madrassas to be pious and vigilant about the assets of madrassas and seminaries.
“Ulama should take care of their deeds and words. They should avoid from disputable issues and work hard for unity,” he concluded his points.
