Ex-Iranian Intel Minister Slams Shia Extremists

Ali Younesi criticized Shia extremists of Iran who can “easily infiltrate” in state-run departments and put pressure on official bureaus.
Talking to a local Iranian newspaper, the ex-intelligence minister of Iran and present assistant of president Rouhani said: “Discrimination is the biggest cruelty. Today the emotion of discrimination and inequality is felt by minorities.”
“Realizing all Iranians, regardless to their race and sect, is one of the factors for national dialogue. The government should make serious efforts to resolve economic problems of minorities and even put some positive discrimination. Uprooting deprivation from all regions of ethnic and religious communities should be prioritized,” he added more.
Younesi further said: “The extremist elements were behind absence of Molawi Abdol-Hamid (president of Darululoom Zahedan and a leading Sunni scholar of Iran) from the swear-in ceremony of Rouhani. When some sides ban on trips of Molawi Abdol-Hamid and create troubles for him, naturally the sense of discrimination gets boosted among minorities.”
“The authorities should take brave steps and engage political elites of Kurds, Balochs, Arabs and the rest of ethnic and religious communities in the government. They should stand against extremists and even clerics,” the higher assistant of Rouhani urged.
He said: “Extremists cannot tolerate law; if they infiltrate in any intelligence office, they create big headaches for the country. Intelligence and judicial authorities should avoid from employing extremists.”
