21st Meeting of Islamic Fiqh Academy Over

The 21st meeting of the Islamic Fiqh Academy of Sunnis completed its sessions on Sunday evening Nov. 22, 2015 approving three important issues.
The official website of the Sunni community in Iran, “SunniOnline”, reports that the meeting of Sunni Muftis and Ulama was kicked off on Saturday morning. In the final session, the verdicts of the academy were announced.
Mufti Abdul-Qader Arefi, the executive secretary of the IFA of Iran told our correspondent: “The academy was established 22 years ago by Darul-Iftaa Darululoom Zahedan. It has 34 formal members who belong to different provinces of Iran. Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol-Hamid, the rector of Darululoom Zahedan, is the chairman of the academy.
In the final meeting, the chairman of the Islamic Fiqh Academy talked to the participants briefly and said, “Ulama, Muslim scholars, have two kinds of relations; the first one is about them and the Almighty and Sunnah of the prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.”
“The second type of relationship that needs to be strengthened is relation with common people. Ulama are the leaders of people; they should be in contact with people, listen to them and find out solutions for their problems,” Shaikh Abdol-Hamid added more.
Talking to the audience, Mufti Muhammad Qasem Qasemi, the head of Darul-Iftaa Darululoom Zahedan presented a report about the negotiations of Sunni Ulama with the authorities of Ansar Bank for legal deals without usury. He said, “We had meetings with the officials of Ansar Bank in Zahedan and Tehran. The officials of the bank are determined to provide some services under the guardianship of Sunni scholars.”
It is noteworthy some members of the academy visited the office of “SunniOnline” in their free time.
The 21st meeting of the Islamic Fiqh Academy announced its decisions about ‘abortion before and after 4 months’, ‘the ruling of loans which lose their value by the passage of time’ and ‘using of asthma spray during fasting’.
The announcement issued by the secretariat of the academy adds: “Abortion within 40 days without any excuse is ‘abominable’ and against the objectives of Islam. Abortion is allowed after 40 days if a commission of experienced medics prescribes it necessary for the health of mother. Abortion is Haram and illegal after 120 days, despite the imperfectness of the embryo. But if its presence in the womb was a threat to the life of mother, abortion is allowed.”
