Stressing that “Sunnis do not believe in mourning in Muharram month”, Mawlana Muhammad Hussein Gorgij asked school principals, jail authorities and barracks to not force Sunnis for participating in mourning ceremonies.
“SunniOnline” quoted the website of Mawlana Muhammad Hussein Gorgij, who was talking to Sunni worshipers in Azadshahr city on Friday, 23rd Oct. 2015 said: “Sunnis do not believe in mourning ceremonies like Shias. We do not hold mourning ceremonies for any Muslim figure. In some regions, Sunnis are accused of not respecting and loving the household of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, while it is not so in any way”.
“We love all divine prophets; until this moment neither we have held birthday anniversary for them nor we had mourning ceremonies. The prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, has eight children and we do not know even the date of their birth and death, but this does not mean we do not love them”, he underlined.
The rector of Darululoom Farooqia Galeekash, northeastern Iran alluded to some reports of forcing Sunni students in government schools to beat on their chests (as mourning) and said, “I have already emphasized that you should not force Sunnis to beat their chests and participate in mourning ceremonies, because such issues are not in accordance with their tenets”.
Shaikh Gorgij made it clear, “Nobody is allowed to sabotage Sunnis’ beliefs or make them divided that a group of people beat on their chests and others do not do so; this leads to discord and dissension among Sunnis”.
Friday Imam of Sunnis in Azadshahr further said, “If a member of the Sunni community butters and mourns like Shias, do not put that on account of Sunnis and their beliefs. Real Sunnis do not believe in mourning ceremony for any Muslim figures. They are not enemies of Hussein, may Allah be pleased with him, and the household of the Prophet”.
The Judiciary should follow cases carefully & accurately
In another part of his speech, the rector of Darululoom Farooqia Galeekash, expressed his happiness over the release of the Companions of Mawlana Naqshbandi, Friday Imam of Raask and said, “A number of scholars and elders including Mawlana Fathee-Muhammad Naqshbandi were arrested in Baluchistan a few years ago. According to reports, after the release of Mawlana Naqshbandi, his comrades have been released, too”.
He further said, “We thank the judiciary for of this issue; these innocent people imprisoned for more than three years on accuse of the murder of Molawi Jangeezahi, a local scholar”.
Mawlana Gorgij asked the Iranian judiciary to show more cautiousness on such sensitive cases and follow them accurately.
