Iran Appoints First Sunni Ambassador

For the first time after the revolution of 1979, the Iranian government appoints a Sunni ambassador to Vietnam and Cambodia.
“SunniOnline” quoted IRNA, the state-run Iranian news agency, that Dr. Saaleh Adibi has been appointed the ambassador of Iran to Vietnam and Cambodia.
IRNA quoted the political and security vice-governor of Kurdistan province the government of Dr. Hassan Rouhani appointed a Sunni ambassador to fulfill his promises he made during election campaign.
Few weeks ago, the Iranian president claimed in his press conference in Kurdistan “there were Sunni ambassadors”. Many Sunni activists challenged the president’s claim denying it.
Dr. Adibi is a graduate of Tehran Tarbiat Modarres University. He had been the chancellor of Sanandaj Azad Islamic University and professor at some national universities in Tehran and Sanandaj cities.
